MLS Game Summary - Los Angeles at Houston

(Saturday, May 26, 2012)

From The Sports Network

Final Score: Houston 2, Los Angeles 1

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Dynamo piled more misery on the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday by earning a 2-1 victory over the reigning champions at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Los Angeles has yet to keep a clean sheet this season and that reflects in the club's results - Bruce Arena's side sits bottom of the Western Conference on 11 points through 13 games. Riding a seven-game winless run, the Galaxy (3-8-2) have lost three in a row and five of their last six league contests.

The Galaxy jumped out to a bright start when Edson Buddle opened the scoring early on, but Mike Magee's own goal seven minutes before halftime gifted the home side a way back into the match.

Houston ultimately went in front as Andre Hainault nodded home the winner in the 57th minute to extend the club's unbeaten run to four games.

The Dynamo (4-3-4) improve to 16 points on the season and remain unbeaten in their new home, posting a 2-0-1 record through three games at BBVA Compass Stadium.

Buddle ended a 10-game spell without a goal when he slotted home a centering pass from Chad Barrett inside 10 the opening 10 minutes.

Houston dictated play for the remainder of the first half and came close to leveling the score on several occasions.

Will Bruin and Je-Vaughn Watson nearly equalized for the Dynamo with similar scoring chances in the 18th and 30th minutes, but their headers sailed just inches over the crossbar.

With a little bit of fortune, the Dynamo were able to get on level terms before the close of the first half. Brian Ching collected a through ball in the 38th minute and ripped a shot on target from a tough angle. His effort hit the woodwork and fell to Magee in the center of the box, but the Galaxy midfielder's poor first touch saw the ball trickle over the line and into the back of the net.

Houston grabbed the lead 12 minutes after the restart when Hainault met a dangerous corner kick delivery from Brad Davis with a glancing header to send the ball just inside Brian Perk's far post.

Los Angeles will have three weeks to develop a plan to get back to winning ways as the club does not return to action until June 17 when it hosts the Portland Timbers.

The Dynamo will have a week off before heading to Canada to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC on June 10.
