Le Toux's brace leads Union past Impact

Chester, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Sebastien Le Toux bagged a brace at PPL Park on Saturday to lead the Philadelphia Union to a 2-1 victory over the Montreal Impact.

The Frenchman opened the scoring with the lone shot on goal of the first half, capitalizing on a defensive miscue from Montreal in the 12th minute to ease past Troy Perkins and slip a shot into the empty net.

Le Toux doubled Philadelphia's advantage in the 63rd minute when he collected a pass from Andrew Wenger and sliced a left-footed shot toward goal that wrong-footed Perkins and trickled into the back of the net.

Montreal nearly pulled one back in the 70th minute when substitute Anthony Jackson-Hamel's right-footed effort came back off the post only to be comfortably recovered by Zac MacMath.

But the Impact would not be denied in the 79th minute when Andres Romero's sublime cross to the back post was tucked home by an unmarked Maxim Tissot.

The match opened up as Montreal searched furiously for an equalizer, but Philadelphia managed to stave off the pressure and escape with all three points in tact.

The Union (6-8-9) improve to 27 points on the season while Montreal (3-14-5) remains at the foot of the Eastern Conference on 14 points.
