Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Juan Agudelo scored his first goal for Chivas USA on Saturday in a 1-1 draw with Seattle Sounders FC at The Home Depot Center.
Agudelo was left off the roster of the United States for its friendly with Scotland on Saturday, allowing him to return from training with the national team on Friday and net the opening the goal for Chivas in the 57th minute.
The Sounders have hit a rough patch recently and entered the game with just one point from their previous three contests. However, David Estrada tallied the equalizer four minutes after Agudelo's goal to salvage a draw for the visitors.
The first half lacked many clear-cut scoring chances for either side as Agudelo went close with a shot from outside the area while Seattle's Mauro Rosales squandered the best opportunity just before the break when he missed the net from seven yards with goalkeeper Dan Kennedy at his mercy.
Fredy Montero threatened for Seattle in the 56th minute when his curling effort from the top of the penalty area skipped inches past the post.
But the home side came right back and scored on its first real chance of the second half as James Riley's right-wing cross was redirected past goalkeeper Bryan Meredith by the head of Agudelo.
After losing its first five games at home, Chivas was in position to claim a second straight win at The Home Depot Center, only for Seattle to answer four minutes later.
Alex Caskey set up the equalizer by driving a dangerous low ball to the front of goal, where Estrada applied the finishing touch from six yards.
Seattle came closest to winning the match in the last 10 minutes, but Andy Rose headed a corner kick over the crossbar after sneaking in front of Kennedy.
