Senior diver Nick McCrory collected the fourth All-America honors of his career in one-meter springboard diving Thursday to open competition at the 2014 NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship.

McCrory, now a 10-time All-American across the three diving disciplines, finished third in the one-meter final Thursday evening at the University of Texas’ Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center. He totaled 412.15 points over his list of six dives to earn a spot in the top-three for the second consecutive year.

A native of Chapel Hill, N.C., McCrory started off his finals performance by garnering an award of 62.40 on a forward 2 ½ somersault. He followed with a reverse 1 ½ somersault with 2 ½ twists for a 3.0 degree of difficulty, a dive that received a score of 76.50 from the judges. McCrory topped the 70.00-mark twice more, including in the final round on an inward 2 ½ somersault for a 3.1 degree of difficulty that netted him 72.85 points.

Michael Hixon of Texas claimed the NCAA title with an overall score of 443.50 while Stanford’s Kristian Ipsen was second (436.55) and McCrory third.

McCrory posted the top score of the preliminary round at 413.90, with his highest-scoring dive coming in the third round when he earned a mark of 78.00 on his reverse 2 ½ somersault.

With McCrory’s 16 points in one-meter diving, the Duke men were 19th out of 28 teams at the end of the first day of action. Texas led the field with a team score of 146 points, followed by California (145), Florida (137), Michigan (109) and Georgia (74).

The NCAA Championship continues Friday with the preliminaries and finals of the 200-yard medley relay, 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and three-meter diving. Preliminaries of the swimming events get underway at 12 p.m. ET in Austin while the three-meter diving trials are slated for 2:30 p.m. ET
