Three Pack players get preseason baseball honor

Posted December 24, 2013

Rodon, Pack down Heels, 7-3

Carlos Rodon, the North Carolina State University junior pitcher who leads many 2014 draft wish lists, was named Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's projected national player of the year Tuesday.

Two other Wolfpack players, junior catcher Brett Austin and sophomore third baseman Trea Turner, were also named to the preseason All-America list. The trio will serve as captains for the 2014 State baseball season.

"Carlos, Trea, and Brett are three of the best talents in a program that has produced many All-Americans," said State head coach Elliott Avent.

"Their leadership skills and understanding of the team concept is why their teammates unanimously elected them team captains for 2014. Their contributions to NC State cannot be overstated."

NC State opens the baseball season Feb. 14 at UC Santa Barbara.

When it comes to PRESEASON awards NCST athletics is King Kong. It's that pesky part about having to prove it where they turn into monkey dung.

Well whomever wrote the article managed to get 2 of the 3 player's grade standings right. However, if you go to the www.gopack.com website and look at the baseball roster that is currently posted you will find that Trea Turner is also a JUNIOR not a SOPHOMORE as listed in the article......

Must be the effects of the season......
