Tickets going fast for US Open in Pinehurst

Posted June 25, 2013

Tickets to next year's US Open at Pinehurst are selling quickly.

Tickets for USGA members went on sale March 1 and American Express card members could buy tickets starting May 2. Since opening to the public on June 10, 62% of the 42,500 tickets have been sold.

The numbers are tracking very similar to sales for the 2013 US Open at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa, 25,000 tickets were sold daily for Merion while US Golf Association's Reg Jones said about 42,000 will be available for 2014.

Merion was the 27th sell-out year in a row with the 2005 US Open, at Pinehurst, being the largest Open they have had.

Individual tickets for the U.S. Open start at $60 for practice rounds and $120 for tournament rounds. Tickets to the U.S. Women's Open start at $30 for individual days.
