— Forward Jiri Tlusty will make his return Monday night to the Carolina Hurricanes after missing eight games.

Tlusty, 25, had an emergency appendectomy on Dec. 24.

The Slany, Czech Republic, native has scored six goals and earned four assists (10 points) in 36 games this season. Tlusty (6’0”, 209 lbs.) is in his seventh professional season and his fifth with the Hurricanes. He has scored 63 goals and earned 59 assists (122 points) in 313 career NHL regular-season games with Toronto and Carolina.

The Hurricanes host the Calgary Flames tonight at PNC Arena at 7 p.m. (FOX Sports Carolinas, 99.9 FM The Fan) in the first game of a three-game home stand.

Tlusty isn't nearly as productive as last year. I'd trade him if there's a team willing to give up anything good for the two. I can't see Harrison. Since they got rid of Gleason, he's about the only one they have that can drop the gloves if needed.

Who the Canes trade with Peters, Tlusty or Nash? I can see them putting Harrison in that deal too for a strong scoring forward that will help the PP. Should be interesting the next couple of days.

Have to beat teams like Calgary if you want to make the playoffs.
