— On a day that saw many players post low scores, including 15 under par, Triangle natives were not quite up to the challenge.

Germany’s Martin Kaymer leads the field by three strokes after shooting a Pinehurst U.S. Open record low 65.

While only one Triangle representative broke par, Brendon Todd’s 69, all eight are within 10 shots, with five being above the presumptive cut line.

Here is a breakdown of how each player did on the first day of competition, and where they currently stand.

• T6 Brendon Todd -1 (69)
• T16 Mark Wilson E (70)
• T36 Garth Mulroy +1 (71)
• T36 Webb Simpson +1 (71)
• T50 Bill Haas +2 (72)
• T68 Joe Ogilvie +3 (73)
• T68 Ryan Blaum +3 (73)
• T106 Kevin Streelman +5 (75)
