Posted July 19, 2014

— The unofficial kickoff for the ACC football season starts Sunday at Greensboro’s Grandover Resort with the league’s 39th summer rouser.

All 14 football-playing members will send coaches and players for media interviews and related functions. It will be the first trip for new ACC member Louisville, which moves in as Maryland goes to the Big Ten.

The Triangle’s representatives will be Duke coach David Cutcliffe with players Laken Thompson (offensive guard) and Kelby Brown (linebacker).

From N.C. State: head coach Dave Doeren, running back Tony Creecy and defensive end Art Norman.

From UNC: head coach Larry Fedora, quarterback Marquise Williams and linebacker Norkeithus Otis.

Defending national champion Florida State will send head coach Jimbo Fisher, Heisman Trophy quarterback Jameis Winston and corner P.J. Williams.

From Wake Forest: new head coach Dave Clawson, fullback Jordan Garside and cornerback Kevin Johnson.

I am with you guys! Ready for it to start. The ACC and local should be interesting this year. The national with the new playoffs should be really interesting this year. Let's get it on.

I know, right! The system may be flawed, but the product sure is entertaining. I've learned not to wish my life away, but I'm looking forward to the end of August when football starts up in earnest, and college basketball isn't far behind.

    Count me in!

As much as I rant against the "evils" of big-time college football, I do know that I am addicted.

Crowder's the best offensive player in the triangle and it isn't even close.
