TV crews arrive early for Duke-UNC

Posted February 11, 2014

Duke at UNC

The threat of inclement weather surrounding the No. 8 Duke at North Carolina game Wednesday prompted television crews and officials to arrive early in Chapel Hill.

Raycom executive producer Rob Reichly said Tuesday their crew and production truck left earlier than usual to make sure they were in place for the Battle of the Blues.

The Atlantic Coast Conference rule states as long as two officials and two teams can make it to the arena, the game will be played. UNC officials said Tuesday it is too early to know what their contingency plan will be for fans planning to attend the game.

The first match-up between the Blue Devils and Tar Heels is scheduled to air on WRAL-TV at 9 p.m.

The CBS special on The Beatles will replay on WRAL-TV overnight, at 2 a.m. Thursday. Viewers are advised to record from 2 a.m. to 4:30 a.m. to get the entire show.

The Beatles special pre-empts regular episodes of “Criminal Minds” and “CSI.” Those programs will pick up where they left off next week.

While I think both UNC and State will be dancing, both will be bounced the first weekend. Better to have a short dance than no dance, though IMHO.

Haha! I don't share your optimism about the NCAAT. It's gonna be too crowded this year for bubble teams. Honestly, I think it would be better for State to be in the NIT. They would probably be an early exit in the NCAAT whereas they could possibly contend for the NIT title. (Maybe a little too eager, but hey, it could happen). Good luck tonight (if they play).

I will vote for that (both in NCAA.)

State has been playing better lately, and with Turner scoring along with Warren, State can put up points. They won't have a slow start against the Heels in Raleigh, and Carolina will have to play really well to win that game. Depending on seeding in the ACCT, I can definitely see State winning two games. Let's hope both our teams put on their dancing shoes in March!

I'm praying both stations televise the game. I do remember a game where both stations did televise it, but I remember more where the local market - WRAL - is blacked out for TWC customers.

The problem with muting the TV and turning on the radio is that the TV video and radio are not in synch. It becomes picking the least offensive option, and that's usually the TV/radio option. I'm an ABD'er: Anyone but Dickie:)

You speak the truth, gunny. The over the top act is old and impossible to listen to.

Didn't you hear, they won a Super Bowl this Year!

  • trolllordv00 Feb 12, 2014

Beating BC at BC by 21 is losing intensity? Talk about nit picking. Duke has won by 15 or more in 5 of their last six wins. Both teams are aying good ball but saying Duke is lacking intensity only shows that you do not actually watch the games. Wow.

  • jmcdow2792 Feb 12, 2014

I think UNC takes this one. Duke appears to have lost some of the intensity they had a couple of weeks ago and UNC is steadily improving.
JGUNN, thanks for you support of State but State's schedule really isn't that favorable. They have 7 games left with 4 of those being teams ranked above them in the top tier. Only 3 of those games are with teams near the bottom. I still think it will take two or more wins in the tournament for State to even have a chance. If UNC gets this one, I think they are in the NCAA.
