Two Tar Heels top ACC baseball honors

Posted May 20, 2013

— The national No. 2-ranked University of North Carolina Tar Heels nabbed two top conference honors Monday, just days after claiming the regular season Atlantic Coast Conference championship.

Junior third baseman Colin Moran was named ACC Player of the Year and junior Kent Emanuel received ACC Pitcher of the Year honors. The awards are voted on by conference head coaches.

North Carolina (47-8, 21-6 ACC) holds the top seed in this weekend's ACC Tournament at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Carolina claimed their fifth ACC Coastal Division title since 2006 and first ACC Regular Season crown since 1990.

Just two seasons ago, Moran was the ACC freshman of the year.

Yeah, someone bestowed upon Fack fans the right to determine how far back events should count. Bet it wasn't the Swof though.

NC State was on NCAA probation for FOUR YEARS in ALL SPORTS during the late 1950's for violations while they were already on probation for basketball. This was all before the separate point shaving scandal that ended the Dixie Classic. No State teams could participate in any postseason NCAA or football competition.

Most State fans seem to have conveniently forgotten everything that happened before 1960.

So what you are saying is that your cheaters are better at getting away with it than our cheaters. OK, if that makes you feel better.

UNC-CH athletics = Lance Armstrong of college athletics

  • Alex25 May 20, 2013

They seem legit....most of UNC-CH athletes don't attend class or the classes are sham and the grades are fake.

Longest running scandal in NCAA history - UNC-CH athletics.

Terrific and deserved honors for Moran and Emmanuel, as well as Rodon and Turner. Happy for Skye Bolt as well. With a name like that, his parents must have known he'd be a stud in sports.
