There is a difference between a McD's AA that's a senior averaging 28 mpg and a freshman averaging 8 mpg.

Curry likely wouldn't have been a factor in the final 3 minutes? Did you see him against Kentucky, VCU, Minnesota, Temple, OSU in the final 3 minutes? The kid is clutch, and was straight up on FIRE at the time of his injury. There's no way hes NOT a factor the final 3 minutes.

Coach Gott was asked at half time about the effects of Duke not having Kelly, he said, "if a player goes down, they just put in another McDonald's All American. You could see the excuse machine cranking up before this game, so this article did not disappoint.

    That's very true.

It's also true that great teams don't lose because one player is out. That said, I don't buy the meme of "Duke lost because of injuries." They had plenty of horses and plenty of chances. It's also insulting to the game NC State played.

Injuries are part of the game. Great teams learn how to adapt. It remains to be seen if Duke is one of those truly great teams. That being said the last line of this journalistic masterpiece makes it sound as if two players were out all game when only one was. Yes Curry got injured near the end, but he contributed 22 points and likely wouldn't have been a factor in the last 3 minutes.

If Duke cannot adapt to the Kelly loss, this will be a tough season.

I don't think Duke can use Ryan Kelly as an excuse because of their depth, but they did look more like a perimeter team w/o him. The Devils will bounce back from this.
