THIS WAS THE HEADLINES IN THE NEWS AND OBSERVER ON SATURDAY `S PAPER. They talk those guys up every single year and we beat them every single year. They are the least of our worries. Beat us one year and then they can talk smack. Until then, you can't put them in the mix." - Dexter Strickland

Today`s paper says WHO IS TALKING NOW ????

GREAT JOB NCSU . Way to go.

Mr Strickland please keep saying that Carolina will beat NCSU every year. Just as soon as a team and or player says that THEY WILL LOSE!!!! THATS A GIVEN. PLEASE KEEP SAYING THAT MR STRICKLAND.

LAUGHING HERE SO HARD AT THE UNC BASKETBALL TEAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Incase some of you people did not notice, State plays with 6 fulltime players;and two subs that played a total of 3 minutes each. It is hard to maintain the high level State plays for forty minutes without rest. I think they have done very well to win 5 Acc games out of seven played.

Too funny... Another sore loser whining. If you would have won the game you'd be up here congratulating your team too. I don't know what posts you've been reading, but no one up here acts like they just won a championship. They actually are thankful they got away with a bad second half. If anything, we understand that yesterday's game shows we have a long way to go before we ever consider a championship. I'm glad most UNC fans up here are more like Jgunn and have a little class, not like you.

  • tayled Jan 27, 2013

Tale of two halves again though. First half, just about the best baksetball I've seen in years from the Pack or anyone else. Could have beaten some NBA teams playing like that. Passing was crisp, shot selection was good, teamwork was excellent.

Second half: bad passing, poor shot selection. The only thing that saved us was the large lead we built in the first half. We took our foot off the gas and did not attack the basket as we had in the first half.

The PAck need to keep the film from the first half and remember what it felt like to play at that level and strive to play like that all the time, intensity and teamwork. We'll see how they react vs UVA.

  • VT1994Hokie Jan 27, 2013

The Pack fans were as loud as any that I heard lately. It paid dividends for the team too. They need more of this. College game day is a huge boost for teams.

  • tgriffin45 Jan 27, 2013

Too funny,,,One would think NCSU won a national championship,,,they have defeated a young UNC team,,AND only 2 out of the last 20 games....shows how despertae they are for attention

  • RainierBeer Jan 27, 2013

Carolina almost got away with it. State's collapse showed how green THEY are. We need to be consistent the whole game. I suspect coach will be working on this. GO PACK!!!!!!

  • randrmomanddad Jan 27, 2013

Carolina is green...1st half they had stage fright....after the second half they settled down...look for a Carolina blow out at Chapel hill....State is terrible...they didn't! LET Carolina come back, every game this year has been like this.!

  • davidgnews Jan 27, 2013

I'm glad the Pack won, but I'm not overly celebrating because their near-collapse in the second half to the UNC run still reveals problems - lapses in particular.

They were able to withstand the UNC run and their own scoring drought by having a huge lead, then it evaporated. Had UNC scored a few more points first half, or State missed a few more, it would have gotten really ugly, really fast.

This stuff needs to be fixed, and fast. Champions show up to play 40 mins, the Pack is on their way, but not there yet. They need to start EVERY game like they did with UNC and Dook, follow through, and show some 'killer instinct.' Fear the danged Wolf for a change !

    Go Wolfpack !!!!!

That's funny coming from a fan base that constantly complains about officiating! No Heels fans, that I have seen, have been whining or crying about this game. State won and deserved the game. That is all!

  • JPack Jan 27, 2013

Wow. What a great one!!! Just getting home from the recovery. So happy. I must tell you UNC guys, you almost pulled out the gutsiest comeback I've seen since Florida made that miracle shot on us in OT a couple of yrs ago. You are def still a great team just some untimely losses. Don't worry. You'll be there in the end. I've said it before... I don't think any of us are going to sweep the other two. Way too much talent on all sides.
I'm reading all the negativity about Roy Williams. Gotta say I still think he is a good coach. You guys are so used to winning and dominating the ACC that when it doesn't happen you start calling for the coach's head. I'm telling you, it's in your best interest to keep him. There's no one else out there available that can coach UNC style ball. Good luck to you guys and GO PACK!!!!

State is a more talented and experienced team this year and that is no secret. I loved the way Carolina fought back in the second half of this game to take the air out of the crowd. The preseason #1 team in the ACC beat the 308th most experienced team in college basketball who lost 4 players early to the NBA draft last year on their home court, so congrats I guess? Giving up a victory to State every 6-7 years is not all that bad when you can win a couple national championships in between. See you at the Dean E. Smith Center in February where I promise you won't be spotted a 28 point lead in the first half.

I am sure I am not alone that I find it quite comical(and typical) that you got up early just to get a username and post a comment. What? the WalMart not open 24 hours for you to go get a new shirt? And making fun of how someone looks is a class-act, UNCheater fan all-the-way. You lost. The End.

  • Red Rager Eliminator Jan 27, 2013

Congrats Hillbillies ... The streak is 19 - 2 now ... You deserve the win ... UNC starters leave early to go to the NBA ... NCSUx starters stay four years and then start mortgage companies ... Somebody please take Hodge to an orthodontist. The only two losers missing last night was Gugliotta and Philip Rivers .. What time does the parade start today? You can honor the 1983 team again ... Enjoy this team while it last ...you'll be back to the doormat soon enough

I think this is what you get with young teams. State also has a short bench, sometimes you have to work through the storm. UNC made a very spirited come back when they could have quit. I liked the way both teams were fighting the when it mattered most. Go Pack.

It's called "Coaches against Cancer" Just about every team in the ncaa wears the tennis shoes to help bring awareness to cancer. the schools don't get money. with coments like this i'm sure all the local teams are glad you're not a fan of thier school. Congrats to the pack for the win.

  • fuzzter1 Jan 27, 2013

Maybe because it's true! Whine and moan, cry and moan that's all unc ever does.

Remember the CofC kid who coach roy whiniams had tossed from the arena for cheering against the heels? That's not being a crybaby is it, just a poor sport.

  • fuzzter1 Jan 27, 2013

I guess coach roy will call this season a "tragedy" again. I can't stand that guy. Nice choice on the pink shoes, like no one in America over the age of 5 isn't "aware" of cancer. Oh, wait, it's all about the money - please send us lots of it - these fat salaries and plum offices don't pay for themselves.

As for State, they aren't yet used to winning and lack the killer instinct of winning teams. Oh, but I don't think we need to post armed deputies on the bench in case they learn how to bury their opponents! Ugh.

Boy, UNC sucks. And I love it. I'm not a State fan or Duke fan, or fan of any other local team - but with the arrogance of Williams and obnoxiousnous of Heels fans, they make it easy to hate them.

And what is it with the four uber-goobers on the end of UNC's bench who have to jump up and over-cheer every little thing the Heels do right? Again, very obnoxious! But keep up the pinkie kicks, I'm sure there's a couple of people out there who haven't heard of cancer and I'm sure they were watching the game - and thought, "Hmm, what is this 'cancer' they speak of?" Insufferable pandering to a cause addicted to massive amounts of donations.

  • cadillacw28 Jan 27, 2013

  • caearly009 Jan 27, 2013

Finally! Congrats to the Pack on a job well done! Plenty of tough games ahead but I think State may have rediscovered itself tonight.

  • VT1994Hokie Jan 26, 2013

To have a 28 point lead is pretty dismal for UNC. State jumped UNC early. Roy didn't call any time-outs. Sorry for the UNC fans. Gott didn't show all that much either to allow Roy to cut it close. I learned much in watching this game. Miami and Duke have the best coaches in the ACC and beyond.

  • JohnnyVoodoo Jan 26, 2013

    UNC = Usual Neverending Crybabies....

  • chivegas Jan 26, 2013

Nice win Pack. Personally didn't like the "conservative" second half (too TOBesque). A win is a win in conf play. Don't let up, the skd doesn't get any easier.

  • fouroaksboys Jan 26, 2013

korn its not the fact that roy cant coach he can coach its his style of coaching like when teams go on 8 or 10-0 runs he should stop it right there instead he lets it get to 20 and 25-0 spurts then he burns a time out where its basically useless go back to the kansas game in 08 when we go down 40-12 before roy stopped the bleeding how many other coaches do you see use this coaching felosity he has a great winning percentage but hes not even as good as bill self is or john calipari yea he might have more wins right now but hes not as good a coach as they are and that is that! but congradulations to the pack for outplaying us outcoaching us and out running us they are clearly the better team that needs to fix their issues on the road! but congrads to the pack!

  • mac240 Jan 26, 2013

Well said! State won fair and square! UNC made a heck of a comeback, but State is just the better, more talented team this year. Period!

  • lec02572 Jan 26, 2013

This was not about Roy as a coach. He is awesome. It was about State being ready to man up like they should have agains MD and Wake Forest. Now the season starts. A win against Duke or Carolin means nothing unless you beat VA and Miami in the coming week.

  • kornfan2448 Jan 26, 2013

State was putting on a dunkfest and once they got the lead to 28, I seriously didn't see any way Carolina was going to make it a game, even though I remained hopeful, they were just getting outplayed. Congrats to the Pack on the win. I have already read some comments on other threads complaining about Roy as a coach...give it a rest!! He's not dean Smith and has never pretended to be, he doesn't have to. He has one of the best winning percentages of any coach...EVER. He has this current, young team in a respectable place and continually improving. They were getting it handed to them in this game and were down 28 and they ended up losing by only 8. If those of you here complaining knew even a tenth as much about coaching as Roy has forgotten, you'd be doing other things than trying to offer tips to a Hall of Fame coach on a sports talk forum. State is the better team and just about everybody knew that going into this game, give credit where credit is due, the Pack won and deservedly so, not because Roy can't coach.

  • redwolfone Jan 26, 2013

Great game. Way to go Pack. Now stop giving up games to teams that you should stomp on!

  • shakennotstirred Jan 26, 2013

So glad the Pack won. The next 4 games are going to be tough. Three on the road and a home game with Miami. The mean-season starts now.
