By writing a letter? If you REALLY wanted to get rid of him, then you should have suspended CJ Leslie for the entire year. Instead, he "punished" by sitting out 3 cupcake games.

Raleigh is going to be a very dangerous place for Leak to show his face in. He should probably get far away from town. I'm sure there are some fanatical fans looking for him as we speak.

They didn't report any more than the facts that UNC was ignoring well documented problems. Here, they are acting like a proactive response by State is a crime.

"ok, now that you have added all of that up, go see what these one and done players are making in the nba and get back to me. By vile garbage"

Its all on the athlete as it is for everyone else in the "real world". If they are one and done then off to the NBA they got what they put in "sweat equity" and should feel lucky the IRS doesn't count there time in the pro training facility called a university as taxable income benefits. To the ones who flop, it was a great experience with the potential to a great upside that everyone would love to have in any industry for 4 yrs as an apprentice with aprox value of 2 million that just happen not to work out, but with experiences that can be applied in other careers.

I don't want to hear that junk about scholarships,I'm talking about money. vile garbage

Lets talk about money...let me see the local gym charges $100.00 a hour for a weight & fitness trainee, collage athletes have how many? 10 at there disposal? 3 hours a day x 365= $90k

Don't look at collage as for the education..look at it as a modern state of the art training facility for developing amateur athletes into professionals 2 week sport camp cost the public $2000.00. Multiply that x 26= $52k.

Nascar sponsors and others sports marketing firms know to the second how many times there product gets announced during events. If your good, say Russel Wilson your name gets announce 30x during a collage game at a cost of $1000.00 in value per mention in future marketing, raising the worth of your talent and exposure benefit to $30k x 10 games= $300k in marketing per year x 4= 1.2 million.

This before room and board $12k/year, food 12k/year, best continuous medical care $? no education $20k/year

  • vile garbage Nov 5, 2013

Honestly, I talk a lot of garbage on here but I actually feel they should allow the players to get paid any way they can. It's not fair to make money from their talent and not allow them to do the same. When you get down to it, that's exactly what it is. The universities and the NCAA are making money from their talents and the athletes aren't allowed a penny of the money they bring in. If anyone can justify that, then I'd love to hear it. I don't want to hear that junk about scholarships, I'm talking about money. I'm not talking about average Joe that stays and will never play in the NBA either, I'm talking about the big money draws, because that's where the money is being made. I didn't see too many Bobby Frasor jerseys floating around in 2009 when UNC won the title, But it was more 50 jerseys than you could count.

  • Obamacare for one and all Nov 5, 2013

A couple of hollow point bullets to the mid-section should slow this man down for a while.

  • itsnotmeiswear Nov 5, 2013

Amazing to me that anyone would claim they didn't know this was going on including the coaches. I know several students that were at State with Leslie and they have all made comments about the flashy cars he was was driving around. I guess the coaches and administration just didn't notice what everyone else was seeing.

That being said...not all the players are doing it, but all the schools are subject to the problem. There isn't a whole lot they can do about stopping the outside influences, and unfortunately, ethics stop for many people when there is a tug on their wallet.

  • Maxxx Nov 5, 2013

If UNC has taught us anything, it's how to perform an internal investigation. NCSU will investigate itself, just as UNC did, and we will find nothing. Then everyone on here can go back to their lives as usual. THERE IS NO STORY!

Not blaming anyone because there aren't any problems. The Tarholes need to "get real" about their own issues and not compare them to this nothing story the N&O did even bother to pick up. WRAL got scooped by the N&O on all the wrongdoings at UNCheats. So they blew their own horn for days about this story and then delivered this nothing story. Got a former ECU coach wantabe as a knowledgeable source to back them up. Why didn't they just call the Rams Club for comments on this story?

The answer is simple. It's because NCSU is irrelevant. They have been for 31 years.

  • NCTheTarheelState Nov 5, 2013

All the talk about state kollege acknowledging in 2011. Back then all we heard was Calvin got money from a former player and friend. Not the fact that the guy is a runner for a sports agent and involved in a lot of shady activity with a hughe number of luxury cars. Also no mention of Calvin having basically a key to the guys house. SMH.......smoke and mirrors by the pack as always!

  • jnrolympicproducts Nov 5, 2013

Glad to see that this breaking investigation was picked up by the major news wires, national newspapers, websites, ESPN, Sporting News, Fox Sports, etc. Wait, the N&O didn't even pick this up. I wonder why? Get real Tarholes.

What, are you assuming it is a University problem and that it has nothing to do with Athletics? imagine that! lol

  • rduguyhere Nov 5, 2013

I imagine Leslie and the other basketball players (have no idea of their names) saw the writing on the wall and left early to try for the NBA. Also, NCheatSU's ongoing cheating has lead them to the middle to lower of the pack "no pun intended" basketball team and the worst team in the ACC in football. Poor poor NCheatSUers...... Mooers never win.

  • rduguyhere Nov 5, 2013

So, the media dragging UNC over the coals on a daily basis repeating the same story over and over is ok... well, according to NCSU fans.

I doubt this sticks to the athletic department - they more than likely started realizing something was amiss and starting correcting it. However the Leaks are they ones who are in for a ride -

  • dooksucks_1 Nov 5, 2013

Also, I have to wonder if the fraudulent Medicare payments were funneled to State athletes.

  • dooksucks_1 Nov 5, 2013

    View quoted thread

Sure it can with the widespread PED use and online only classes.

  • NCheatStateU Nov 5, 2013

This is going to be getting more interesting. Every investigation of athletes and improper benefits always does. Still too many unanswered questions in this because this is just the beginning. With the SoS involved and probably the NCAA and maybe the FBI because of Medicare payments. I'm sure more will come out. Probably we will never know about the academic part. They've probably gotten that well hidden since they learned a lot from the UNC scandal. Anytime there are athletes at a college or university and they are going to be NBA, or NFL athletes there is corruption. That would include Duke, Ala., State, Kentucky, or any school. It seems to me that the if State knew enough to order Leak off campus then they probably knew that their athletes were receiving improper benefits. I wonder if they reported the athletes that were receiving the benefits to then, rather than later when they realized they had to do something for damage control. We know that DY had problems with Gary Williams because he refused to do some things he was asked to do that he didn't think were right. I think Debbie Yow is leading State in the wrong direction. I'll bet this will become apparent soon. Just look at the progression of incidents at State since she has been there. I hope it all comes out for all to see.

I think this investigation will head in a direction other than to the feet of NC State's Athletic Department.

More than likely, the Leaks are in for some rather intense scrutiny in the days and months ahead. May be able to learn some fascinating information from all of this.

  • 426X3 Nov 5, 2013

And so goes the drama of college athletics.

  • Luv2Camp Nov 5, 2013

At this point, it looks like you have an overzealous former player trying to corrupt and use existing athletes at NCSU. State officials did the right thing by sending a letter to Leake telling him to take a hike. This situation pales in comparison to UNC where they had fake classes and an agent on the football staff.

NCSU may not come out smelling like a rose in this case, but it cannot get anywhere near as bad as what happened at the hill.

  • cetingen2 Nov 5, 2013

When all the trouble in Chapel Hill came to light, I said to all my packie friends, Those in a glass house shouldn't throw stones. Funny how after all this time the only big difference in these 2 schools is the amount of money and cars.

NCSU wanted to be a player in big time sports, well now you are. Welcome to the fishbowl

  • zonk Nov 5, 2013

Just as I have said about the stuff at UNC. I don't think State can really help a lot of this stuff going on. The school, coaches AD's can not be everywhere. This is why the people responsible need to held accountable for being where they are not supposed to be

    You mean like this:

"This past summer, the Leaks received a letter from the state alleging they billed Medicaid for services not provided. The state conducted an audit on E-Squared and ordered them to repay $490,000. They reached a deal with the state and agreed to repay more than $360,000."

Seems all this three month 'investigation' discovered was what State had already turned over to the NCAA two years ago AND what the State of NC had discovered after their own investigation.

  • iamcousinbooger Nov 5, 2013

    goode88 says that:

"WRAL you are a joke and should be ashamed of your effort."

If this investigative report uncovers documented evidence to prove that YOUR

  • rduguyhere Nov 5, 2013
