...bet you'll be watching just like the rest of your obsessed fanbase over in chapped hole. No fake championship here, like at unc. No phony rings proclaiming said fake championship. And it didn't take 20+ years of cheating to achieve it, either. Must really sting to see your arch rival win outright at YOUR expense....on YOUR home turf. Must really sting....really.

  • ttaylor58 Dec 2, 2013

The CF world is having a huge laugh at the ACC's expense. A mediocre at best Dook team in the ACC championship fresh off a watered down schedule of bad coastal teams and non-conference cream puffs. Gonna be ugly but at least nobody will be watching except maybe for a laugh.

Props to Duke football once again. If Cutcliff is not National Coach of the Year, then they should stop giving out the award.

Throughout Cut's time at Duke, UNC has had the better players on paper each and every year...with or without sanctions and scholarship losses...

The reason why Cut's won the last two despite that is because of his ability to coach them up. Sometimes coaching makes players better than what they were on paper before they got to campus. That's what Cut does.

Agree with both you gentlemen. I sometimes wonder just how much the talking heads actually WATCH the local games. I think they look at stats and make a prediction. Sometimes fans who watch the teams every week can make more accurate predictions.

Predicting who will win a game is about as accurate as predicting the weather at times.

As much as I hate Dook, and yes, UNC did alot of thing to "beat themselves", you still have to give credit to Dook. Just sayin... This coming from a Tar Heel fan. The Heel will fine. Fedora is a good coach, has a great foundation of young players and hs already solidified some very good recruting classes coming in.

This is the first winning season Cut has had at Dook. Fedora is much better in his first two seasons than Cut was, and Fedora came in with sanctions and scholarship losses. Dook was luck UNC managed to beat themselves.

  • rduguyhere Dec 1, 2013

Why would Dook want that? Every other team is pretty much terrible or mediocre in the State of NC this year. I would think Dook would want to play an SEC, Big 10, Big 12, etc. team. Not a Conf USA team.

  • rduguyhere Dec 1, 2013

Good luck against FSU Dookies. Any other year, I would (ahem) root for Dook against FSU in this ame. However, I can't pass at an opportunity for the ACC to play for the national championship! Go FSU!

Good win by the Dookies. Quite impressive with Dook's resources to finish with a 10 win season.

Anyway, this game could have gone either way as it usually does. Without the INT at the end, i'm sure UNC would have kicked a winning field goal. But, that's why they play the game.

    Anyway, congrats Dookies.

    Go Heels!

This is why I don't pay attention to the bleating heads. The games are the only thing that matters. These message boards are endlessly entertaining though.

Sports writers - aka "the media" - are paid (can you believe that?) to do what they do. It is their job... and therefore they have the time to "study" and to do "research" on and about sports. Other than having that advantage they are no better than the avid sports fan who spends a great deal of time following sports. Probably for a variety of reasons - prominent among them being that the media "hypes" everything to try to increase their viewership/readership - the media feels this "need" to "predict" what will happen in the world of sport. They constantly put in front of us "preseason" picks: Who will be All-Conference at each position, who will be player of the year, which team will fiinish 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. in every conference, etc., etc. Those members of the media are no better than many of the rest of us in making such attempts. Personally, I pay absolutely NO attention to any of that! Anyone who follows sports knows that the "underdog" does indeed win at times! That is one of the beautiful things about sports - you play the GAME to determine the winner! The winner - be it conference champion or All-ACC or POY... or who wins the big rivalry game - is determined by the coaches and players, and THEIR performance on the field or court - NOT by the prognostications and musings of those in the media!

Coach Cut used to say his team would have a "November to remember"; this year it's certainly true. Congrats to Cut and to Duke. I hate that Carolina lost the game, the bragging rights, and the bell, but Duke was the better team - a tip of my hat to Duke.

  • mxteam44 Dec 1, 2013

You gotta admit.....that would be a instant sold-out crowd, and that's a big factor in determining who plays who, and where. I would love to see that matchup myself.

  • twodogsandus Dec 1, 2013

Coach Cut and the whole Duke team are class acts. I have had a chance to met and talk to the coach and he is as down to earth as they get. When you see him on the side lines you can't tell if Duke is ahead or behind. He is the kind of coach that Duke has needed for a long time. It would be a hoot if they could beat FSU. Congrats to the players.

  • jrt0856 Dec 1, 2013

Duke has beaten again a team that is more talented than they are. It must be coaching. Good coaching goes a long way, especially against a team that has a coach who has a problem with game management. A team that shoots itself in the foot constantly. I believe that winning against more talented teams will come to a end next Sat. This time talent will win out, it is just overwhelming this time. That bubble they have been floating around in is about to be pop.

I can't pull for Duke against FSU...1st chance the ACC has had in a long while to bring a Natty to the conference, and not the SEC, and especially not BAMA. The money that would pour into the coffers of all football teams due to the revenue sharing will be huge, and money is a key ingredient in perpetuating the success of sports programs. It is the way the world is.

  • gsms69 Dec 1, 2013

Congrats to the Duke family. The coach and players were classy in the win. And it was the tar heel fans that were making fun on this site about Duke beating State. Don't know if they can beat Noles but nobody said they could beat the Heels......except them.

  • jmcdow2792 Dec 1, 2013

I have had season tickets and only missed 2 home games since Coach Cut arrived. It was slow and painful at times, but you could just feel things changing and see a determined group fighting to dig out of years in the abyss. A helluva thing to witness!!

  • lanecc Nov 30, 2013

Improbable to us but not to Coach Cut. That's how you create a winning culture.

  • jkorneg Nov 30, 2013

A lot of WRAL employees posted UNC to win. They were awfully wrong. I am an NC
State fan. Even I knew Duke would win this game. Why does everyone think UNC is the chosen one. Go figure.....

  • natsfan1965 Nov 30, 2013

Duke just finds ways to win. I would not be shocked if Duke pulls the upset next week. They do what they need to to win. I would love to see it. They have been the little engine that could all season. Let's see if they can climb the big mountain. Either way they have had a great season. Congrats to the players and coaches. Well done Duke

  • tjdebord Nov 30, 2013

I have to grin just a little at the media. Didn't they pick Duke last or next to last preseason?

What a guy! UNC did turn their season around, go to a bowl and gain the valuable practices (15 I believe)teams are allowed during the off season; Coaches always mention the importance of this. I know Cutcliffe will...

    GO DEVILS

  • Objective Scientist Nov 30, 2013

It was a cold day in Kenan... which was reportedly "SOLD OUT", but I saw scattered empty seats that would have added up to a significant number. And... not sure we will ever see all seats filled again in Kenan - not with the "Blue Zone" ticketholders who never venture outside of their "comfy confines" inside. I'm not convinced the Blue Zone was the "best idea". Nevertheless, there was a level of "excitement" about this game on campus, around the stadium, and within the stadium that has not been evident in quite a while.

I've seen MANY Carolina-Duke football games and would list several others above this one with regard to being great and truly exciting... but, this was a good one. This Duke team... is not a great team, but it is a very good team. Cutcliffe has absolutely "made the most of what he had to work with" with regard to personnel and a long-standing "culture" in the Duke football program - and the players have developed a belief in themselves as individuals and as a team that has not existed in a Duke football team for many years. Cutcliffe's coaching and character, along with the Duke players effort and character won this game for them. Congratulations to a "quality coach" and a "quality program" on the win! Hope you can find a way to win against FSU. This is one Tar Heel who will be pulling for you!
