Guess everyone who is complaining about Duke not getting to UNC weren't the ones stuck in traffic for hours on just about every road in the Triangle. Sure the campuses are really close together, but so is RTP and Apex and it took me 3 hours to get home Tuesday.

Geez. whine, whine and whine some more unc fans. why don't you call the bus company which couldn't get out to take the Duke team to unc and complain? are you guys that anxious to get an azzzzz whuppin or do you just want to whine like a two year old? grow up and stop acting like irresponsible children....

  • ncdedhed Feb 13, 2014

903 with his typical dookie dogma...it's always someone else's fault or God's will (with apologies to the movie MASH)

  • JPack Feb 13, 2014

Haha! Even the news crews are making fun of the conspiracy theorists! That short 8 miles was backed up for more than two hours. The decision was made by both teams and was the right decision. I'm glad both schools erred on the side of safety. Whether you blame Duke or UNC, you are wrong and sound ridiculous.

  • cmnixon Feb 13, 2014

I left my business, which is on 15-501 about 4 miles beyond the Smith Center, after 1:30 yesterday. I got to my house, which is less than 1.5 miles from Cameron Indoor, before 4pm, without incident. That was during the very worst of the traffic on 15-501. When I went to the store at 6:15, traffic was moving freely and steadily on I-85, which had been gridlocked much worse than 15-501 ever was. I have no doubt my 2wd Buick sedan could have gotten me back to Manning Drive in well under an hour at that time. Just saying.

only if the team can show up...you know how tricky those 8 mile jaunts can be for coach k and his back.

Is that the ancient place in Durham with less than 10K seats or the newer place in Raleigh built with City/County and NC government funds that is never full?

  • mike honcho Feb 13, 2014

Funny how Marcus Paige was looking forward to the entire lower section of the Dean Dome being filled with students......there's another triangle team that does that every game.

which has been shown to have been an EASY drive as late as 6pm by several people on youtubeit was an easy drive? then why were people abandoning their cars 1.5 miles from the dean dome?

  • unbiasedaccfan Feb 13, 2014

There should not be any blame other than the weather. Easy to blame the ACC for not cancelling the game...easy to blame Duke for not getting there. But the game will be played...all should end well and in much safer conditions.

Common sense dictates it WAS NOT up to UNC to "cancel" the game. It is not their call, being they are the home team and already there, duh! It is the opposing Rat's responsibility to make sure his team is ready and able to safely make the 8 mile trek, which has been shown to have been an EASY drive as late as 6pm by several people on youtube. All UNC did was merely advise ticket holders who couldn't get there safely to stay home and they would open the gates to students at no charge.

  • dooksucks01 Feb 13, 2014

Hilarious how Dookies will try and blame UNC for K being a coward.

  • mtbraleigh32 Feb 13, 2014

pitiful, just pitiful. at 5:00 on wednesday, there were women leaving my office complex in business attire. They were getting into front wheel drive cars and they were getting home. Duke's team didn't need a bus to get to CH. I am sure there were plenty of SUVs that could have taken them. Duke has taken a big step backwards in my view. When they do play in CH, they should be made to play in skirts.

The issue was the hypocrisy of UNC shutting everything down, classes, buses, and telling ticket holders to stay off the roads... Basically doing everything to cancel the game, with the exception of ... cancelling the game... Even the Governor said 'Don't put your stupid hat on" as he was referencing anyone attempting to go anywhere behind a steering wheel with the exception of medical emergency...

By UNC not proactively canceling the game, they forced everyone with (or without a ticket in the case of UNC students) as well as Duke into a difficult situation where they had to make an effort to get to the dome or potentially lose out on an opportunity to play or see the game (or in the case of ticket holders, lose the best game of UNC's home schedule). They had the chance to cancel the game as soon as the first report of gridlock was reported and spare everyone a nightmare afternoon and evening... but they didn't...

  • UNC81 Feb 13, 2014

The issue wasn't that Duke decided not to play, it was that they decided to wait until almost 6pm, after the rest of the world had made it to Chapel Hill, to back out.

  • unbiasedaccfan Feb 13, 2014

Good decision not to play, although it should have called around 3 o'clock. They'll play next week and all will be OK.
