Mercer would have beaten unc even worse.......they looked better than Belmont and UAB, they even looked better than Lehigh

6NationalChampionships[/quote]unc didn't win a game in the ACC tourney and beat Providence in the NCAA, nothing to pond the chest about.

"and current sophomore big Marshall Plumlee should improve over the summer"

um, what the heck do you base THAT on?

Next year the entire state of NC will be crying when Louisville starts playing us.

Way to embarrass the ACC, Dook. Oh and 1 top center recruit is not going to fix your problems. The Heels will have everyone back next year except McDonald plus add 3 top-15 recruits (all shooters). Sell your Dook stock and buy UNC.

  • Toddler10-21 Mar 22, 2014

Watched Okafor play once in I think it was their title game. Didn't see much from him because a kansa recruit had him into foul trouble. Number one recruits and a bunch of McDonalds all americans are great, but their are a lot of kids that can play despite their ranking. Plumlee, Paulus. Read where Oakafor can shoot the three? Don't think Dukes needs that. Hood/parker I think will come back. If not back to square one. You really not missing much in losing your seniors. Dawkins was the best of the three, but K didn't use him enough IMO.

Have you seen next years recruiting class? The # 1 center in the country is on the way.
Oh and the # 1 point guard too, dont feel sorry for Duke, we'll be just fine.
And if this loss is the reason Jabari and Rodney return........oh my.

  • bluerules Mar 22, 2014

The devils are the most over rated team in the nation. By far.

The 1st round exit is becoming an annual tradition for the team from Durham.

Because they are an embarrassment to humanity? And their coach uses shoe polish for hair color? Maybe it's because they were, AGAIN, OVERRATED. Just a hunch.

  • cole1949 Mar 21, 2014

No inside offense ,no inside defense , no cameron it's over ! K its passed you by. Quit on top.

Guess NC isn't Duke's state either.

  • personality Mar 21, 2014

Coming from a life long UNC fan………If Duke were able to get, recruit, whatever, a couple of solid big men as centers\post players…..Duke would have won several more National Titles.

Dukes lack of big men have really baffled me as to why they either can't, or will not, get some good post players that the guards can feed instead of depending on the 3 point shot to win games.

  • Toddler10-21 Mar 21, 2014

Doesn't matter what conference you play in, or who is on your schedule, if you can ball, you can ball!!

  • blynch790 Mar 21, 2014

Half seriously - Coach K may have offended the basketball Gods last week when he dissed the A-10, and this was the payback. Should the the A-Sun get more bids? Actually this is what happens with the awful one and done. It's hurting the game.

Exactly right WD, we didn't deserve to win, Mr Tudor's article sums it up well

  • 903 Free Paul Frampton 2 Mar 21, 2014

Coach K did what he could with a roster that clearly lacked a Final Four calibre post player. Lacking an interior presence still got them pretty far in a weak ACC, but clearly not against a team like Mercer that despite being a midmajor had enough to take advantage of Duke's flaws.

  • Whistling Dixie Mar 21, 2014

They're just not very good. Obviously the better team won.
