If Singler stays for his senior season they may put his number in the rafters.

Yes and no. I'm tired of State being bad. Every Carolina loss is fun, sure. But their losses do not become State wins. We're still 14-9. This would have been a great year to do well and get to the dance. How cool would that have been for State to be in and Carolina not. What are the odds of THAT do you think?

Sure, but I think it's fair to say that Duke and UNC usually give NC State THEIR best shot, too. Carolina's ONE good game in their last eight was the one they played in Raleigh.

But aren't we always supposed to give each other our best shot? If not, then what's the point?

Theres nothing better in college sports then hearing a UNC fan talk so much about the past because the present is so bad...... its like going to the Dean Dome and listening to 20 thousand s leaving quietly losers again at home, i guess its more around 10 thousand this year since they have quit on their team already. I think thats why i love to see post like this, it just makes me smile and everyone gets to see the true color of every UNC fan out there.....its great!!!! oh yeah.....hehehehehehehe.

You're an idiot! You hang on to that title like a blankie...Duke has won a few too. Yes we got taken to the shed by Gtown but we bounced back...and we have played a number of games on neutral sites...just thought I would mention it since your lack of knowledge is showing! Nice to see you have accepted your teams average play!

  • mike honcho Feb 5, 2010

One thing Duke and unc have in common, they get the other schools best shot.
I dont think anyone would argue NC State's game against Duke was their best of the season. Georgetown shot a school record field goal percentage. Now maybe Duke's defense wasnt up to par in those games, but give those teams credit they played incredible basketball and deserved to win. As in years past, when Duke and unc get together throw the rankings out the window, it will be another classic.

    GO DEVILS!

  • TruthBKnown Banned Again02 Feb 5, 2010

Duke is improving. I don't see why they couldn't be Final Four material come March.

Carolina fans talking Duke down are just being sour grapes because the Heels are so bad this year. Don't expect them to give Duke any credit. Yes, Duke lost to NC State. But remember, State played a FINE game that night. We didn't play like State. We played like a good team, and that night we were good enough to beat Duke. No way we could repeat that. And Duke had a poor shooting performance that night.

you do realize that the NCAA tourny is played on nuetral grounds?

Dukes record on nuetral courts this year: 4-0.

Not saying they are making the final four, but I do expect to get past the S16.

I think Duke has depth this year that is being utilized. For the last several years Coach K did not rotate regardless of the situation. We've had some good players that have transferred because i'm sure they wanted more playing time. You can't get better if you don't play. This year the Freshman are gaining valuable experience by simply playing. Obviously any team relies on their shooting. All top teams that have lost, usually have a lower shooting percentage than the winning team. Most likely the team that has the highest shooting percentage will win. If Duke does not make buckets, they will continue to lose to NC State, etc. When you got a grad student walk on giving quality minutes, I think you can say they have depth. Andre Dawkins did not play a single minute and he is a good player. We got valuable minutes from Miles and Mason. We got very good quality minutes from Thomas and Zoubek. The local boy Ryan Kelly making his minutes count. The difference this year with others is that the substitutes are playing and giving the three leaders a chance to get a breather without loosing too much offensive ground.

As always if you don't make baskets you will not win. I believe that at any time any player at Duke can make a difference, and this year the Coach is giving them all a chance to prove their worth. So I think this year everyone playing is making the difference. I do think they can make it to the Final Four this year. They will also lose if the team they play against racks up a 70% shooting percentage. I think anyone would.

  • tlg0022 Feb 5, 2010

That's why they play so many games at neutral sites, cuz that's what the NCAA tournament is...duh. I would also saying being in the top 10 is a lil more than average.

  • fbguru Feb 5, 2010

Duke can beat anybody in the country when they're on, but they can BE beat by anybody when they're not clicking. Hopefully they had their off games already and will be hot from here on out. If so, they will be in the final four easily.

  • CaptLeo Feb 5, 2010

Yeah, Duke is playing good ball right now. If Singler can stay hot shooting and Scheyer stays consistent I believe Duke will make a nice run in the NCAA Tournament. Coach K is coaching very well.

  • ugottabkiddinme Feb 5, 2010

heels might not make the big dance but dook WILL NOT go to the final 4...its funny the short term memory puke fans have they just got toasted by georgetown on the road.....geuss what? the pukies will have to play away from hansbough indoor during the tourny....so all in all i would rather the heels won the NC last yr and be bad this one yr than to play every year as an avg team..which is what dook has become, at best

  • VT1994Hokie Feb 5, 2010

Duke is really playing their game right now. Shooting like that they will win a bunch of games and go deep in the Tourney.

  • kickmeoutroy Feb 5, 2010

Yeah you just might not have a .500 record to make the NIT. I know it probably won't happen but they had better beat Duke once and then win the rest of their home games against State, FSU, Miami. Assuming they lose all remaining road games (Maryland, Ga Tech, BC, Wake, Duke) and beat Duke at home they finish 17-14. Lose at home to Duke and have say FSU beat you at home then you HAVE to win a road game or you finish below .500. This all could happen but is highly unlikely

  • pompey Feb 5, 2010

Like state;-) I see the ACC as a whole, down this year. I thought GT would have made more of a game than they did last night, but here's to the days when UNC and Duke are number 1 and 2 in the nation again.....I hope!!!

  • pompey Feb 5, 2010

Heels fan here, Without doubt the devils are the class of the ACC this year, and will be carrying the ACC banner the "Big Dance". Do you think duke are a final four team? and as for UNC making it to the NIT, "IF" is the operative Word, we may get in because of the name.

  • aoakley336 Feb 5, 2010

Heels fans? I don't think they'll be saying too much this year. Although, they might still be in the NIT when we lose out of the Big Dance IF they make the NIT.

Look I love the enthusiasm but what do you see different from this team than from past teams that makes you think they can make a deep run? I am a die harder but we all know Duke will go as far as their shooting allows them, and all it takes is to find a physical team that has great guard play to shut that shooting down. We have witnessed this for 5 or so years now. Do I think Duke can make a run, YES but will they probably not. But I will go down with them whenever it happens and I will be on here that day to take all the comments from the Heel fans saying CoacH K is done and Duke is overrated

  • paulmichaelowens Feb 5, 2010

I thought last night's game was an excellent basketball game. No mention of the two intentional fouls by GT either. Second week of the tournament? Jesus, we definitely don't have a Duke fan here. Not only does Duke have the 3 big timers with Smith, Scheyer, and Singler, they have the rest of the team that are also better than average. We saw good play out of Mason Plumlee last night, even though he had freshman mistakes. We saw good play out of Lance Thomas and Brian Zoubek. GT's head coach looked like he gave up in the first half sitting down and pretty much just looking after the 10 minute mark. I guess he needs to be coaching on how to play basketball without fouling. If you take a closer look at Duke's losses they were mostly on opposing teams home courts in which they were shooting over 50 percent from the floor, and even with Georgetown shooting 72% from the floor! Also note how many teams act like they have won the National Championship by storming the floor after winning against Duke. Keep up the good work Coach K!
