Ultra-marathoner running for a cause
Posted September 13
The Haw River in Saxapahaw, North Carolina is just one of the many reasons Keith Hanson runs.
"Seventy percent of people in the Carolinas get their drinking water from rivers," Hanson said.
With every stride, Hanson inches closer to his goal.
"I hope people think 'Man, that's absolutely crazy!'," exclaimed Hanson.
Hanson isn't just running a marathon to prove his point, he's running 300 miles. He hopes to raise money and bring attention to river conservation with his Running for Rivers campaign, which he created.
Hanson will start his 300-mile journey in November outside of Greenville, South Carolina and end on Folly Beach in Charleston County. The same direction rivers flow.
