UNC, Duke bookend Sunday evening schedule

Posted March 23, 2013

The University of North Carolina and Duke University, both winners Friday in the NCAA tournament second round, get primetime television positions for their respective third-round games on Sunday.

The Tar Heels take on Kansas, the No. 1 seed in the South Region, at 5:15 p.m., the first game of the evening session on WRAL-TV. Theirs is the first game of the day from the Kansas City location, and the Sprint Center is certain to be packed with Jayhawk fans. Both teams are coming of closer-than-expected challenges in Round 2 where they trailed early and counted on a second-half comeback to surmount lower-seeded opponents.

Duke faces 7-seed Creighton in Sunday's finale. That game tips off at approximately 9:40 p.m. on TBS.

The No. 2 seed Blue Devils, 73-61 winners Friday over Albany, will need to tighten up the defense to hold Creighton in check and must spread the scoring beyond Seth Curry and Mason Plumlee.

That duo combined for 49 of the Devils' 73 points Friday.

I hate that Duke drew a 9:40 game. Wishing them the best.

...John Thompson Jr., or the 3rd, whatever, is a terrible coach, living off his dad's reputation.

What is the world coming to. Go Tar Heels and Miami, Duke can go to well huh go home. The sooner the better. Oh for the good ole days, when true UNC fans would never ever pull for Duke.

2 vs a 15 still closer than what it should have been. Duke will go home if they don't play better against Creighton. Carolina vs Villanova was a toss up game, for the most part they look good.
