UNC hearing is a waiting game
Posted August 16
Day one of UNC's hearing with the NCAA Committee on Infractions is finally over.
They were in the room for almost 10 hours, and they plan to be back at it tomorrow. This is a closed meeting, so we did not have access to anything that was said during the meeting, and there will not be a transcript.
What is it like to cover this event? Well, I sat in the hotel hallway for 10 hours today. I passed some of the time watching episodes of "The Office" on Netflix while jumping up every few hours to get video of people leaving the room to take a break.
I am not sure what it is like to be a part of this kind of hearing, but I can say everyone left wearing giant smiles. I am sure they were happy to be headed to dinner.
We did not get a chance to talk to anyone from UNC about how it went. This was expected. It is an NCAA violation for anyone with the institution to talk about the case before its resolved.
We are back here tomorrow at 9:30 eastern for round two!
