UNC-NC State finale rained out, no make-up planned

Posted April 28, 2013

— Sunday's rubber game between the University of North Carolina and North Carolina State was cancelled due to rain and will not be rescheduled.

After splitting the first two games of the series, No. 1 UNC and No. 6 NC State were scheduled to play the series-deciding game three at Doak Field at Dail Park under the lights in a televised contest. As the clock turned to 7 p.m., the tarp remained on the field under darkening skies and the decision was made to call the game.

Because of finals this week at NC State, a Monday make-up is not possible. Fans with tickets to Sunday's game can exchange them for any game remaining on the NC State home schedule, with the exception of May 11 versus Florida State which is already sold out.

UNC's (41-4, 19-3 ACC) next game will be Wednesday in Chapel Hill against The Citadel. The Wolfpack (34-11, 15-8 ACC) will not return to the field until Friday when they open a three-game set against Presbyterian.

Sunday night's system could see anywhere from 1 to 2 inches, WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said.

A few, huh? Sassie has lots of username kinfolks wandering around in the sports forums now. Just sayin'.

I was going to crack a "make up date" joke earlier Gunny, but I know you're happily married.

Like someone mentioned, it should have been moved up to 12 or 1 and ESPN could have aired it on a tape delay. Would have been a win-win for ESPNU and State and Carolina. Well, one of the teams would have lost, but you get my drift. It's a shame, but hopefully the teams will meet up during the ACCT.

"innuendo"?? reminds me of a Preparation H joke:)

The only reason this game was not played is because ESPN is bigger and more powerful than NCSU and UNC. If not for ESPN this game is moved to noon on Sunday.

Lol. Remember that comment once State plays their 8 home game football schedule.
