UNC planning 'Stripe Out' for SDSU game

Chapel Hill, N.C. — The University of North Carolina will wear Carolina Blue and black uniforms against San Diego State Sept. 6, and are encouraging fans to coordinate their colors for a "Kenan Stadium Tar Pit Stripe Out."
UNC fans are asked to wear Carolina Blue or black to the 8 p.m. game vs. the Aztecs based on their section of seats. Carolina students are asked to wear black and sit in the Tar Pit student section in the west end zone.
"We wanted to create an event and an environment that continues to connect our team to The Tar Pit and also incorporates the entire stadium." said head coach Larry Fedora. "Carolina Blue is our school color but we want to incorporate the black tar from the Tar Heel foot logo and build on the success of last year's Zero Dark Thursday game."
UNC fans coordinated to all wear black for their Oct. 17 game last season against Miami. The then-No. 10 ranked Hurricanes held on to beat the Tar Heels in the nationally televised game, 27-23.
Similarly, the UNC basketball team executed a "stripe out" for their Feb. 15 game against Pittsburgh where fans alternated Carolina Blue and white based on section. UNC won that game 75-71.
Official Kenan Stadium Tar Pit Stripe Out t-shirts can be purchased for $14 in the stadium during the Liberty (Sept. 30) and San Diego State games. Students will be able to purchase stripe out shirts for $12 by showing their UNC One Card at Chapel Hill Sportswear on non-game days.
Shirts are also available UNC Student Stores and will be available for sale at Carolina's "Meet The Heels" event on Saturday.
