Good article 903. Good possibility he still is thinking too much about the "brand" and needs to think about the battle. I'm chalking it up to a "sophomore slump", and it happens to some kids. Barnes is still projected a lottery pick, but I'd say the hype has been way bigger than the performance. If it were me, I'd want to come back, take care of my business, and show what I can do. But the $$$$$$$$ are calling and he will most likely answer and become some NBS teams development project. One thing about the brand, unless he starts performing some heroics at the right time, he won't have much of a brand to offer. He won't be the first that was projected to be all world and just became part of the world.

    I prefer to skype LEHIGH.

You are going to lose every time this season BDT. Nothing you can troll about this season tops Duke's historic loss to Lehigh. You are left dragging up the past; the very thing you so often attempt to chastise others for. You lose BDT. Why do you lose? Why is your trolling for the season dead in the water? Why are you nothing more than an old laughingstock at this point in time? Three words BDT: Lee says High.

    LEHIGH

UNC still holds the 7 spot for biggest NCAA upset ever. Duke is on that list, but on the winning side. So is NC State.

    Thanks for playing.

    You lose BDT - LEHIGH

By the way, you are actually becoming rather boring with your extremely weak smack. Now you need to go back, what, 16 years to have a comeback? As a troll, I am afraid you are becoming a "has-been" (as opposed to a "never was" like your girl paulie). I suppose a loss of such epic proportions during the current season has stunned your usual inept senses to the point they are none-functioning. Oh well, such is the life of a loser. Can you say LEHIGH?

Barnes hit a few skids of late, but he did win some games for UNC, and I give him credit for this much. He just didn't show the intensity lately. With some coaching and a good support system in place he will be OK. He's not ready for the NBA right now. He could make some monies to sit on the bench though. Unless he gets something in his heart called courage and even being assertive...I don't know. Great young man and has an IQ. He just needs to see the big picture.

Barnes definitely bought into his own hype and is paying the consequences. I think its interesting though that Doug McDermott, Barnes' supporting cast from high school, received All American honors this year over HB. Hopefully Harrison can get it back on track.

Interesting thought. After watching McDermott play the other night and looking at their schedule, I wonder what their individual accomplishments would look like if the two had swapped schools 2 years ago. Just sayin'...

BARNES = BUST. Even the most delusional UNC fans know this is true, although they will never admit it. When you go 2-3 against your archrival, and never lead your team to a final 4 despite playing alongside 4 future lottery picks, you are considered a bust.

SPECIFICALLY when you go 11-40 in St Louis.

  • StunGunn Mar 27, 2012
    Sports Legend

I don't think Barnes was a bust, but he didn't live up to all the hype either. He's as good as gone to the NBA. I wish him well, but he'll really need to improve his game to have a successful NBA career.

Yeah, his stinky play in the NCAA tournament will probably cost him around $2.79 million over the next few years (best case scenario). Most people would consider that a "bust."

  • jrj6950 Mar 27, 2012
    Sports Legend

If Barnes left for the NBA this year, he would still be a Top 15 pick. But thats a far cry off his Top 5 status coming out of high school.

The Black Falcon lost his wings due to his own doing and a bum ankle. Roy allowed him to get the recognition that he wanted, by having the green light. Wow BDF, you do not watch very much bball. You just spout nonsense without doing any research. Shame on you.

    GO HEELS!

His Brand did not go bust, it never materialized. He will have to try again in the Me-B-A, which may be better suited to his shoot first game.

You really have to stop and wonder(if you're really interested in basketball as a subject and not just smack talk) why Barnes did not do better. Once Marshall became the point guard, he should have beaten everyone down the floor and been on the receiving end of a lot of Marshall passes. Most of the time, he just didn't look like he had his head in the game, like he was sleepwalking or something. I told my wife that he couldn't dribble more than three times and he was in trouble. Sure enough, on the next play, he dribbled down the lane, picked up after the third dribble and immediately turned the ball over. What on earth did he do in high school that made him to highly hyped. I mean, First Team All American before playing a game. Just goes to show that the people who write and report on these things don't know anything for sure. It's what's in the kids head and his heart that takes his talent to a new level. Unfortunately for Barnes (and us UNC fans), he never got there. But I'm sure the NBA veterans will take him under their arms (now there's a nasty thought) and make him into a great player....when donkeys fly.

Couldn't agree with you more ssjack830. Barnes just seems to have lost his desire somewhere along the way. If he was as good as advertised, Marshall would have made him a superstar.

I agree as well, but I saw where McAdoo - the most unprovn of the Heels - would be the first to go. Zeller is talented, smart and experienced, but the NBA may go by the potential they think Big Mac has.
