Sure, there have been lots of greats who agreed to participate in the dunk competition. But there have been a whole lot of guys who were a long way from great who have also participated. So participating in the dunk competition isn't exactly some sort indication that you're a great NBA player when you have a bunch of guys who have participated in it with some pretty modest NBA credentials. And right now, Harry is a lot closer to James White and Darvin Ham than he is Lebron James.

But like I said, it is exactly the type of honor he deserves and it gives you guys something to watch that weekend since you're yet again without a player in the game.

Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, Kevin Love, Dwyane Wade, Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Nash, Russell Westbrook, Derrick Rose, Shaq, and Charles Barkley combine for a total of 0 dunk contests.

James White (2.7ppg career), Jeremy Evans (3.7ppg), Jamario Moon (6.3ppg), Tyrus Thomas (7.7ppg), Jonathan Bender (5.5ppg), Stromile Swift (8.4ppg), Darvin Ham (2.7ppg), Chris Carr (6.7ppg), Greg Minor (6.9ppg), Tony Dumas (7.3ppg), Jamie Watson (3.2ppg), Harold Miner (9ppg), Antonio Harvey (3ppg), and Robert Pack (9ppg).

In retrospect you are correct... Barnes is perfectly fitting for that honor. Plus between that his appearance in the rookie/sophomore game it will give you guys something to watch that weekend since you don't have anyone in the actual game.

LOL, an article written by a Carolina fanboy that includes the line:

Although Barnes has been struggling to succeed this season for the Warriors, a dunk contest crown may be just what he needs to gain momentum and turn his season around.

poor romeo...making and breaking his own "case".

basically, he credits Parker's elevated numbers due to playing on a less-talented dook team.

You can't be serious, I think Parker pretty much has that locked up, maybe even player of the year if Fair doesn't get it. Not to mention that 2010 team was much better than then Dukes 13/14 team. So he's doing much more with less. Not to mention stats Barnes 2010-11- 15 and 5 per game. Parker 18 and 8, so yea you do the math. Nobody mentioned W/L's stop deflecting, and just take it for what it is a BUST!!

romeo, romeo -- where art thou's brain???

WRT freshman year...Barnes won ACC Rookie of Year, scored the most points as a freshman in the ACC tournament since Phil Ford scored 78 points in 1975. Scored 84 points in the NCAA tournament, the most of any UNC freshman in history.

UNC lost 2 ACC regular season games that year -- Parker and dook have already lost 3. For Parker/dook to exceed Barnes/UNC in the ACCT, they will have to win it all. For Parker/dook to exceed Barnes/UNC in the NCAAT, they will have to get to the Final 4.

I hope the ACC doesn't lose its lustre in basketball as well, tart. I used to think the same thing as you about the players in other conferences - they're bigger, stronger, better. I'm not so sure it isn't more a case of us not seeing their weaknesses as much as we do in the ACC players, simply because we don't watch them play for the most part until the NCAA's. Then, we're seeing the best of the best. Kentucky and Carolina will lose probably the most talent, but other schools will lose players as well, and State is getting in a highly ranked class next season. The ACC also had an influx of new coaches the past few years, and that may be effecting the level of play as well. I think (and hope) that things will even out.

I'm getting a bad vibe that college basketball, that used to be owned by the ACC, has lost something for whatever reason. The players that seem to perform best on the biggest stage now seem to look more like pro athletes (bodies and skill sets). Hate to say it, but regardless of how many hamburger flippers decide to come to the ACC, it may be awhile before one of our schools gets to hang the big banner. While I have hope, that's about all. Winning a six game tournament requires so many things, good players, players that play their best, players that play better than you expect them to play. Many of our players (all schools in the ACC) are good, but just don't seem to come to play every night. Our bigs get pushed around, their perimeter players guard the three point line better, their guards seem to be able to get to the basket with ease. Just seems like our quality of play is down. We know that Kentucky will reload and be a title contender again, and Florida gave the SEC two consecutive titles. Sure hope the SEC doesn't wind up dominating both football and basketball.

of course remember we followed the career of the greatest ever and I watched every game on tv and saw him play the world champ boston celtics in the garden...1 on 5. it was early in his pro career when chicago had no one. on one play everyone in the garden knew he would take the shot...he managed to get around dennis johnson, danny ainge, larry bird, kevin mchale and robert parrish and laid the ball in. they ran back arguing with each other about how they allowed that to happen. point is we saw the greatest competitor ever and the fire that burned in him even playing putt putt much less his game...never saw that in barnes...I know the opposition is praying this am that mcadoo goes becuz he has that fire and if he gets the chance he will burn up the media outlets with replays etc. he is key. if he stays, we don't drop that far if at all...he may take the chance to rise to the number one spot in the lottery next yr.

I agree as well, but I saw where McAdoo - the most unprovn of the Heels - would be the first to go. Zeller is talented, smart and experienced, but the NBA may go by the potential they think Big Mac has.

Couldn't agree with you more ssjack830. Barnes just seems to have lost his desire somewhere along the way. If he was as good as advertised, Marshall would have made him a superstar.
