Brand Gone Bust - Harrison Barnes two years in Chapel Hill

of course remember we followed the career of the greatest ever and I watched every game on tv and saw him play the world champ boston celtics in the garden...1 on 5. it was early in his pro career when chicago had no one. on one play everyone in the garden knew he would take the shot...he managed to get around dennis johnson, danny ainge, larry bird, kevin mchale and robert parrish and laid the ball in. they ran back arguing with each other about how they allowed that to happen. point is we saw the greatest competitor ever and the fire that burned in him even playing putt putt much less his game...never saw that in barnes...I know the opposition is praying this am that mcadoo goes becuz he has that fire and if he gets the chance he will burn up the media outlets with replays etc. he is key. if he stays, we don't drop that far if at all...he may take the chance to rise to the number one spot in the lottery next yr.

Barnes did appear to be missing some kind of inner drive. I hope his professional career proves us wrong.

Wonder if HB going pro will cause the Harrison Barnes curse on unc to be lifted or if it will be that "legacy" he was speaking of leaving behind?

I'm getting a bad vibe that college basketball, that used to be owned by the ACC, has lost something for whatever reason. The players that seem to perform best on the biggest stage now seem to look more like pro athletes (bodies and skill sets). Hate to say it, but regardless of how many hamburger flippers decide to come to the ACC, it may be awhile before one of our schools gets to hang the big banner. While I have hope, that's about all. Winning a six game tournament requires so many things, good players, players that play their best, players that play better than you expect them to play. Many of our players (all schools in the ACC) are good, but just don't seem to come to play every night. Our bigs get pushed around, their perimeter players guard the three point line better, their guards seem to be able to get to the basket with ease. Just seems like our quality of play is down. We know that Kentucky will reload and be a title contender again, and Florida gave the SEC two consecutive titles. Sure hope the SEC doesn't wind up dominating both football and basketball.

Like I said, man up.

how can they "man up"...they don't have the cajones to say anything real in person to anyone...envy is a beatch.

I hope the ACC doesn't lose its lustre in basketball as well, tart. I used to think the same thing as you about the players in other conferences - they're bigger, stronger, better. I'm not so sure it isn't more a case of us not seeing their weaknesses as much as we do in the ACC players, simply because we don't watch them play for the most part until the NCAA's. Then, we're seeing the best of the best. Kentucky and Carolina will lose probably the most talent, but other schools will lose players as well, and State is getting in a highly ranked class next season. The ACC also had an influx of new coaches the past few years, and that may be effecting the level of play as well. I think (and hope) that things will even out.

What is it going to take to break that 1/4 century curse in Dook football Mo? Care to make another win/loss prediction?
