The truth is unc could not live up to expectations

they were to win it all. could not get to final 4. Is there much hope for the nit next year? Stranger things have happened!

OK, I'll bite. "they were supposed to win it all" - yep, when Dexter Strickland was still healthy and Kendall Marshall didn't have a fractured wrist. And those expectations were put on the Heels by the media, not themselves and not Roy. It's that damm SI Curse.

Gunny I think it's worse than the SI curse. It's the HB curse which is like the SI curse on steroids.

Considering his success his 1st year....what would have Gottfried done with the talent at UNC? made it to the final four even with the injuries?

Just wait til the 3 McDonalds All-Americas show up at State. do I smell fear in Chapil Hill and Durham?

You can no longer call the Sweet 16 a "flameout", but then call the Elite 8 "getting it done." It is 1 round further, 1 more win, 1 game. There's not a huge difference between Elite 8 and Sweet 16. You both leave after the weekend, both play at 2 sites, both play 3 or 4 games.

If you want to call the Sweet 16 a "flameout", you can't justify the Elite 8 as meeting expectations.

If Carolina was healthy, I'd agree that they didn't live up to expectations, but I don't see how anyone could still pick Carolina to win it all with Marshall sidelined, Strickland out for the season (therefore no reliable PG), Henson's wrist on the mend, only to twist his ankle badly in the Kansas game. No excuses - you have to play who you have; the only thing that changed would be those expectations. I would not - and did not - expect Carolina to win it all with the players they had at the end of the season.
