The truth is unc could not live up to expectations

RE: The truth is unc could not live up to expectations

I didn't say all fans. Are you saying there aren't Unc fans rooting against him b/c of K? I remember posts on here when they lost in the World Championships that first yr

sorry...I don't see any one, other than you, talking about folks cheering against the USA team.

RE: The truth is unc could not live up to expectations

Ok, you are right, nobody rooted against them b/c of K. It must have been a dream of all those posts when the lost in the Worlds.

Heck, that loss was in 2006...not even sure this forum existed back then. And you didn't join until 2010!

You sure you are mistaken? Or maybe just making stuff up?

LOL

RE: The truth is unc could not live up to expectations

You can no longer call the Sweet 16 a "flameout", but then call the Elite 8 "getting it done." It is 1 round further, 1 more win, 1 game. There's not a huge difference between Elite 8 and Sweet 16. You both leave after the weekend, both play at 2 sites, both play 3 or 4 games.

If you want to call the Sweet 16 a "flameout", you can't justify the Elite 8 as meeting expectations.

Snubby, snubby, snubby.
You read too much into my retort.
Going along with the "curse" theme, I simply joked that dook is in the midst of a REAL trend of losing in the Sweet 16 or earlier.
Face it -- dook has progressed into the Elite 8 or better twice in the past 10 seasons. In the same window, UNC has done so six times.

The individual season "expectations" argument can be played back and forth (regular season vs ACC Tourney vs NCAA Tourney, injuries vs no injuries, etc.). However, in general, UNC and dook expectations are that they can get past the Sweet 16 more than a couple of times in a 10-year span.

And yes, there is a significant difference between the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 -- you may fool yourself, but not anyone else.

Since when did the Elite 8 become the barometer of success? Why is the Elite 8 so much better than the Sweet 16? Last time I checked, its 1 win, 1 game. If you made it to the final 4 consistently, I would say you have an argument.

Sure.
Since Kiwi accepted the USA Basketball head coaching assignment, UNC has been in the Final Four 3 times, dook once.
I.E., 3 out of 8 is more consistent than 1 out of 8.

And Coach K has a national title and a gold medal.

Well, again, since that happened 6 years ago.....4 years before you even joined the forum, I'm not sure how you would know...or how you would remember.

Sorry.

Just responding to snubby's retort, oh connect-the-dot challenged one.

By the way, Dean welcomed Kiwi to that club.

RE: The truth is unc could not live up to expectations

I am for the US first, then Duke, so I couldnt be more proud of K taking his time with the National Team instead of tanning and thinking of phony folksy stories to tell the media in the fall. Oh and his National Title and multiple Acc Tourney Titles that he won during this "distraction" will be more than enough to spoil us.

LOL...of course...Roy was offered first and turned it down for golf and tanning.

First you look foolish with your claims about the numerous posts from 2006, now this.

Maybe it might be time for you to take a break, huh?
