Well, I got my answer. The AP pulled the story about 20 minutes ago. It was a training exercise that got put on the wire by mistake. At least three publications, including the Washington Post and WRAL ran the story as real. Do they not have editors that know a little about college football?

I'm as ready as anybody for the college season to start. But when I click on the College Football category on this site, it seems I missed the opening game. There, under an AP byline, is a report that UCLA upset Oregon 21-20 last Saturday. Neither school lists this game on their schedule.

    What is up with that?

I only wish the start of football season would elevate the level of commentary on this site. It seems to be getting more repetitive and inane by the hour. Every thread has a shelf life of only a few hours of adult swim before the children jump back in the pool and never get out.

I really don't like that VT is playing GT on Sept 3rd. The Hokies have been prone to starting slowly over the years. But, if we win this one...better look out for Thomas and the Defense. We could run the table with our schedule. Never look beyond the first game. The most important game in our season is GT. Playing at home is the real deal.

Stat: For the 2011-12 football season, Wilson finished the season as the #1 rated passer in the nation...in a Wisky uniform, not NCSU.

If MG had a pair, he would have told TOB that he was open to competing for the starting position...and Wilson would never have donned a Wisky jersey (and MG would not have tallied more ACC ints than BR).

interesting you want to talk stats, when your primary argument trashing MG is based on unfounded speculation, not facts...where are your stats showing players being afraid of competition?....here is an example of a stat....brenner of unc threw more int's last season than any other acc qb, with far less pass attempts.....the key stat would be 13....`13 int's thrown by renner in the 2011 football season, which was the most by an acc qb

This topic has gone from A-Z. VT has one GOAL right now. Win the 1st game against GT. I don't like opening up with someone or anyone like GT in the ACC. VT has a History of starting slowly. Most of the Hokies are happy that we are playing at home. We shall see. Clemson and FSU are lights out with recruiting in the last two years. Happy that FSU is at home too.

Indeed, stats-r-facts (as mentioned by the poster that struggles to ignore kato).

And given the wolffies desire to talk miscellaneous QB stats when it comes to Renner and Glennon, it is logical go ahead and take a look at what the NCAA recognizes as official Passer Rating. I.E., this past season, Renner finished overall at #1 vs his conference peers (#10 in the nation) with a 153.44 rating...a whopping 23 points higher than Glennon.

  • WolfpackindahouseV.4 May 7, 2012
    All Star

    For the board's edification-

Renner's INT rate of 1 in every 27 passes,

    DWARFS

Glennon's INT of 1 in every 38 passes.

    Stats-R-Facts!

LOL, debbieSAC continues to ignore kato.

BTW, speaking of TD's -- BR's 1 td per 14.7 pass attempts is far superior to MG's 1 td per 17.5 pass attempts.

  • WolfpackindahouseV.4 May 7, 2012
    All Star

Glennon throws an INT for every 2.6 TDs he throws

renner throws an INT for ever 2 TDs he throws.

oh, and renner had the "ALL WORLD WR" to throw to... you know, the same one that threw himself a party, touting himself as a "POTENTIAL TOP DRAFT PICK", only to be OVERlooked by EVERY NFL team on DRAFT DAY.

With State's lack of quality runningbacks and receivers, Turkey-neck will be hard challenged to improve on his paltry next to last in league (lack-of) yards per attempt. That said, duhhhhh (it is ok to call you that, right???) MG should be in an excellent position to challenge Renfree for throwing the most ACC picks (fact: MG threw more than BR).
