Oriakhi eliminates Haiti

RE: Oriakhi eliminates Haiti

It's McAdoo's loss. He's going to see double teams on the offensive end and slashers taking it right down the middle at him 35 mpg.

Not true. Joel James will man the middle at 6'10 260. It would have been nice to have Oriakhi, but it is not the end of the world. Also, 6'9 Brice Johnson will be on the other block. McAdoo will get plenty of opportunities to score.

GO HEELS!!

Yeah, Roy has so much confidence in those two projects, he had to make contact with Oriakhi to try and fail to persuade him to transfer to UNC.

And you cannot seriously tell me that you will put all of your faith in the plumlees to lead you down low. Mike K wanted Oriakhi as well.

Wait! Don't they already have the great plumlees and kelly? Aren't those boys all first rounders? Where could Oriakhi have possibly fit in?

RE: Oriakhi eliminates Haiti

In an offense where all the big men do is set screens for the 3 point shooters all you need is two big men.

Duke's post players were 3rd, 4th and 6th on the team in Games started, minutes, FGM, FGA, and PPG. They do alot more than set screens.

Keep telling yourself that.

Lol......you have this kid looking up stats, running numbers and trying to make a case for his beloved Duke! I do enjoy seing him be your puppet.......and just when I didn't think his obsession couldn't get any worse.
Duke fans understand with basketball they have something to actually talk about for a few months but when its gone the Blue Devil forum will be slient because they have nothing else. Desperate times when you put all your eggs in one basket!

That's the point, until Mason decided to stay Oriakhi was a good fit for Duke. Now that Mason's coming back, Duke doesn't need him.

RE: Oriakhi eliminates Haiti

It's referred to as using good common sense. What if he hadn't had the foresight to go after Stillman White last year? UNC's problems would have been worse than they were. UNC will be fin with what they have, but another big man would not have hurt. It was just common sense.

At least he's not headed to the big-man graveyard.

"go after" Stillman White is not quite the same thing as going after Oriakhi. Stillman White was not deciding between UNC, Missouri, and Kentucky.
- Posted by markedectomy - 903

Going after White and Oriakhi is indeed the same thing. Those two were recruited because depth at their respective positions were needed and they were among the unsigned players at those positions.

Who else in Div 1 was going after Stillman White? Mizzou and UK?
- Posted by markedectomy - 903

That reading comprehension thing rears its ugly hear again. When you are recruiting for depth at a specific position you go after the best available person at that position. It makes no sense to recruit a center when you have a need for a point guard. Therefore, comparing the schools that were recruiting White vs the schools that were recruiting Oriakhi is not really a valid comparison.

And you act like Mike k is not trying to snag some of those transfers. Get over yourself.

If Coach K had Joel James and Brice Johnson, I'm sure he wouldn't need to go after these transfers.

Joel James - "man the middle", LOL.

There is not much depth down low for the Heels. That is why Roy wanted Oriakh. It was not a knock against James. I am sure that you know that, being that you are a basketball fan and all.

COMMON SENSE. But just understand that there are those who don't possess that trait and are still mired in their childish comments. When UNC brought in Justin Knox, they know he wouldn't score 20 ppg, but they knew he was going to be a solid contributor. Oriakhi would have done the same thing for them this year. UNC has some good players returning and coming in and they will be fine. Using common sense never goes out of style.

I have to agree with 903's assessment of that. You did leave out the flops.

Knox was a backup to Zeller and Henson. Oriakhi would have started if UNC had landed him.

RE: Oriakhi eliminates Haiti

Everybody should have a puppet.

RE: Oriakhi eliminates Haiti

We shall see if UNC can extend their 2yr NCAA Tournament streak. It will be tough...
