Instead of financial considerations, Hokie's agent said he would do the job for free but VA Tech would have to pay for his internet connection and gas money between NC and Blacksburg.

I have a crazy, wild-eyed theory (what else is new, right?)

Their AD, who has Parkinson's disease, is stepping down. They wanted Greenberg out anyway because he stinks. So they moved Greenberg into the AD position, and will be searching for a new basketball coach.

That is why Greenberg is currently saying he is "still employed". He didn't ever say he was still their basketball coach, though. He just said he was still employed.

This is just a crazy idea. I have not hear any rumors. Just playing the guessing game and applying some logic trying to figure out what it might be. We shall see!

If that isn't it, it should be. That would be a masterstroke. Seth may not be winning big, but he's well liked. It'll be interesting to see how close you are.

If this were about the SEC, as some rumors suggest, there would probably be a lot more smoke from sources outside VT. This is so well contained it almost has to be exclusively within the VT family itself.

My theory is they waited to make this announcement until Larry Brown signed with SMU so he wouldn't be camping out on VA Tech campus begging for the job.
