James Summers out

RE: James Summers out

Looks like he didn't make the grades. NCCU appears to be getting a good QB/athlete.

If Carolina couldn't get him in, he MUST have had some horrible academic records. I mean REALLY horrible. When has Carolina ever not gotten an athlete enrolled? Maybe times, they are a changin'....... Carolina might actually be playing by the same rules as everybody else now! ;)

yeah we all can't recruit the "amphibious" players you guys put on your teams...some student/athlete. Are you the high priest of the CHURCH OF HYPOCRISY or just a deacon,(sorry wake fans)? LOL

Wow, you went back 25+ years to get that one.

Are you a student of history, or a tenured professor?

And how did you ARROVE at that conclusion anyway?

Talk about hypocrisy. You know all about that, don't you? You are the very definition of it.

YOU(as a resident troll),start a thread on our board talking sh*t about Carolina's academic standards, then get irritated when I point out you live in a glass house. guess you're jealous that, in spite of recent trouble with a few individuals, the nation still respects Carolina as a "public ivy"...no sir you are truly on another level of hypocrisy...like defending your football player trying to get himself or a van full of kids killed on the highway, but screaming for the heads of our players for taking a watch...what a piece of work you are...twisted by yrs of frustration for following a second rate athletic program...sorry

Who said I was irritated? I just pointed out the error in your post.

You can thank me later.

RE: James Summers out

Kenny Williams recruited to UNC, didn't get his requisite grades and ended up at Elizabeth City State. Jason Parker recruited to UNC, didn't get the requisite grades and ended up at Kentucky where they miraculously found "errors" in his high school transcript that no one else found to make him eligible.

TBK, you're being snarky and that's your M.O. However, given the way you and others of your fanbase still foam at the mouth over the end of the Valvano era despite the litany of academic issues there, I find you to be quite hypocritical on this thread.

He just does not want to talk about drug use, arrests or a former player being banned 10 years for providing illegal benefits to players.
All programs have issues. Trying to paint UNC as the only one is silly.
- Posted by Krzyzewskiectomy

When did I EVER paint UNC as the "only" one. It is you guys that want to bury your heads in the sand and pretend Carolina is something it is not, that these problems don't happen at YOUR school. So I point it out when it does and you (as expected) don't want to hear it.

Carolina fans are the ones that think they are "classy" and above the fray, better than others. When someone shoots holes in that with examples proving otherwise, they are not saying their school is perfect. They are correcting the myth that YOURS is.

you flip flop more than romney. clearly you are a rodent with principles.

It's not my fault you have trouble understanding even the most basic of points. If you did, you would understand I did not flip-flop on anything. You just didn't (and still don't) get it.

But you don't WANT to get it. We've seen your kind on here a lot over the last couple of years. All you care about is doing everything in your power to deny, deflect and defend all things Carolina.

Just know that everyone else gets it, no matter how much you might think your deflections are working.

RE: James Summers out

Well, UNC needs one recruit to not qualify/enroll. There are 21 commits that count toward the 2012 class after early enrollments are factored. That means UNC is 1 recruit over the limit imposed by scholarship sanctions. They can only have 20. If they go over 20 then the scholarship punishment actually starts in 2013. By enrolling 21 instead of 20 it would essentially be like adding another year of scholarship reductions. Every school has at least 1 non-qualifier. UNC needs one in order to start the penalty now and not next year. Looks like Summers might be that guy.

Ah, now it all makes sense. They NEEDED someone to take the fall. If they were at or below their limit, Summers would already be enrolled in a grad-level Swahili class en route to "good" academic standing.

How is this hypocrisy? NC State has recruits all the time that don't make the grade and end up at a Junior College. There's nothing hypocritical at all on my part. I'm pointing out that this kid couldn't get in, and is relegated to the likes of NCCU. That's a step up for a school who just recently got Marvin Austin eligible by allowing him into a grad-level "athlete friendly" course in order to get his GPA up, despite tests that placed him into a remedial English class.

Basically, it seems maybe Carolina has gone legit. That's a good thing. Right?

No actual comment where I point out two cases where your statement re: UNC's academic standards was in fact false.

Before Valvano's ouster, State would've allowed Tyrone Outlaw into school. Heck, if they could've found a way to get him in anyway, Les Robinson may have kept his job.

The question is, how many athletes did Carolina admit that should not have been admitted. OK, so you were able to name two that were not admitted. Someone else has already mentioned that Carolina needs some to fail to qualify. So it appears that once Carolina gets the scholly number right, they find whatever means necessary to keep the rest in the fold.

You've proven nothing by pointing out a couple of recruits that didn't make the cut.

You do realize I'm not actually a badger, right?

It's not as if I'm a real badger that would get offended at someone calling me a possum? It cracks me up when people do that. :)
