If my memory serves me correctly you have like 5 or 6 more active players. Wouldn't call that dominate. Now get back to packaging bacon.
- Posted by The Dire_Wolf

Per active ESPN website, 29 UNC, 22 NCSU.
The difference of 7 equates to 31.7%...
Relatively speaking, quite significant.

And aggie-boy -- along with that bacon, please serve me a couple of eggs sunny-side up with grits on the side.

How many #1 draft picks does Carolina have again?

How about the rest of the ACC, for that matter?
- Posted by TruthBKnown Left The Building

No #1 overall picks for sure but don't tell LT that who is better than any #1 overall pick BY FAR that has EVER come out of the ACC!

Never been impressed with the State fans bragging about Mario being the #1 pick overall. Has he produced championships? Will he eventually be considered one of the greatest defensive players of all-time? Only time will tell I guess.

Jordan wasn't the #1 overall pick either and he's BY FAR the greatest athlete/basketball player of all-time. I guess being #1 really doesn't mean that much after all!

RE: Flagship continues to dominate NFL draft over UNC Raleigh

As of the last count State had 5 and UNC had 2 yesterday. If you go back to the History, UNC has the most. But. That's History.

History is all Carolina has to crow about, and even that is tainted. They started the series off with a huge number of wins (like 30 wins versus 5 losses or something) back when State was just a club team fielding ROTC guys as their football team. Since then, it's practically a wash. Over the last 55 meetings, it's 29-26 (or is it 29-27 now?) in favor of Carolina.

And I think State had six players drafted, not five.

Actually history is not all Carolina has to crow about. Leading in the overall series no matter how you look at it. Thats pretty good for a dominate basketball school wouldn't you say?
- Posted by larrys080

Except that there's a big fat asterisk, for people that care about the truth of it. State fielded a club team composed of ROTC guys for a long time. Sure, Carolina won those games. But ever since State decided to field a "real" team, it's about as close to awash as it can be.

But you keep bragging about that. You know the truth, even if you won't concede it.

You missed my point really bad! Wasn't even talking about the early years, was talking about since the ACC started. I think even since the ACC started UNC leads the series. If its only by a few games its still leading. Once again, not bad for a basketball school!

Time will tell for Super Mario.

Jordan was the best player AFTER college. Not many will dispute that David Thompson was the best ever player in the ACC. Drugs derailed a promising pro career, so Jordan obviously did more after college than he did. But not so much during college.

Oh yeah, they do lead since the ACC, but not by much. Like I said, it's pretty much awash between the two. But if an uninformed person looks only at the overall series record, they get a really bad impression about the series. It is misleading, I guess is what I'm trying to say.

Just remember this..........the NCAA recognizes the overall series and so do a lot of the old school Wolfpack fans including my grandfather who is 94. I just hope Duke fans don't try to put an asterisks beside the football series with NCSU and UNC many years from now since they claim they don't have the same opportunities.

Either way, considering NCSU has had a great 5 year run and UNC is still leading the series all is well IMO.

RE: Flagship continues to dominate NFL draft over UNC Raleigh

It is what it is. I'm just putting it into proper perspective. It's not as if Carolina has won two games and lost one from the getgo. They won a bunch of games in the beginning, but it is about as even as you can get for well over 50 years since that time. The fact is the two have been pretty evenly matched for several decades now. It's annoying when people try to use that record alone to prove otherwise.

It's almost meaningless. The record tells a very misleading story.

And you said "not bad for a basketball school". Well, State was also a basketball school (some still think it is, as much as I'd like to change that!)

RE: Flagship continues to dominate NFL draft over UNC Raleigh

Isn't Duke's record against Carolina nearly even? Carolina has owned them to the tune of 20-1 over the last 21 games. If Duke fans tried to claim Duke is even with Carolina because of the overall series record, wouldn't you say that's a bit misleading, given the state of the programs for the last 20 years?

RE: Flagship continues to dominate NFL draft over UNC Raleigh

OK, I'm letting this go -- you can have the historical record. I intend to continue enjoying the modern success. :)

I am enjoying the modern success and the historical record. No biggie though............not enough overall success in football to brag about! Nice talking civil with you! :)

LOL at packaging bacon!

Lol at 30000 posts. Jeesh.
- Posted by Jacob Summ3rs

Why is it that just about everyone with fewer than 30K posts cares about the number of posts? I know I don't. It's just a measure of the amount of time between WRAL bans. I haven't been banned in a VERY long time.
- Posted by TruthBKnown Left The Building

Not quite. It is a measurement of something far different than that. 30000 posts? Jesus Christ man does your wife ever see you?
