I have nothing bad to say about this, although I do wonder why Carolina would hire a guy with zero previous coaching experience.

Maybe they saw how great it is to hire an ESPN commentator as a coach. :)

Seems like the same from another one. OK. I'll do it again. Davis has never coached. Great player at UNC and the NBA. Learned from an Icon at UNC. He came out of the booth at close to the top.

Coach Gott got his job because Yow knew him in school. Gott came out of the booth only because of Yow. He did a great job with Sid's recruits. He has a solid coaching staff. Lutz is the smartest coach there. When you write stuff like this one that Davis doesn't have coaching experience...have you experience in playing and coaching? I have played and I coached too. Roy did the best job in hiring since no one has left UNC. Don't underestimate a solid individual that has a grasp of this game. Some of the writers on here know a little about this game.

I guess hiring ESPN analysts is the thing to do. I like Hubert. Maybe he can help Roy in the PR department and tell him what not to say before he says it.

Would you rather have a coach who says what he wants and wins big or a coach that pleases everyone and doesn't win big? Unfortunately you don't have that choice. Thanks!

This hire made UNC loyal, and the school's grad's happy. The rest are just a tad jealous. That's my take. Davis will do a solid job. He's UNC in his heart. The basketball team team has never been charged with cheating. Ol Butch is the cull. Most schools have never been caught.
