Report finds academic fraud at UNC
RE: Report finds academic fraud at UNC
Godfather, as far as evidence of an UNC athlete being "given a grade," do you really need to be given links for that? Really? Do you need a link for that? I've got about 50+ links related to Michael McAdidn't.
My brother had a friend that wrestled at UNC in the mid 90's. Wrestled, not basketball or football, mind you. He was away for a meet when the rest of the class took a test. He went by the professors office to make up the test. The professor told him, "Here's your test. The answers are on my desk. Don't get them all right." Winked. And left the room. Now this happens for a wrestler, an athlete from a non-revenue sport. What do you think they're doing to keep football & basketball players eligible.
In the early 60's, my father-in-law had a class with Doug Moe. They were taking a test, and my FiL & Moe turned their test in at the same time. Moe's was typed. And there was no typewriter in the room.
You see, this stuff has been going on over there for decades. And no, I don't have a link. I can probably get the wrestler's name if you like. I do have some Choo-Choo Justice links though, if you need some historical reference.

I took 128 courses at UNC. I was a marbles champion so I didn't have to take any exams or do any of the work. They gave me a PhD in astrophysics and named my great-grandmother head football coach at dook.
The I went to dook and and got an MBA at Fuqua. I had to take the exams but I did have all the answers in advance. They scolded me for it, but I told them I was Chinese and they let it pass.
Later I went to State and got my DVM. One of the cows did all my work, but they were cool with that. She was a really, really smart cow.
RE: Report finds academic fraud at UNC
Oh little Skunkypoo, here is your courses in "African Studies"...
http://www.koofers.com/north-carolina-state-university-ncsu/afs/let's dont' forget those life skills classes in "Golf Mangement" with an average GPA of 3.52...
http://www.koofers.com/north-carolina-state-university-ncsu/prt/then how could we leave out the PE 269 class - Volleyball 1!!! Average grade 3.8. Dang, all those really hard classes at NCSU that can help me get a real job in professional volleyball or golf manangement (cutting grass).

easy elective classes that all schools have vs. academic fraud that unc has...
why are you still typing?

Hold on...(laughs uncontrolably for 10 min.) Academic fraud? Do you have any clue the cheating going on at NCSU? The honor council deals with over 120 cases a year, and that is "reported". I personally know a girl who was paid by 3 guys at NCSU majoring in Engineering to write all of their English papers because they were so bad at it. $50 a pop. You sound like a cat trying to clear a hairball with that "academic fraud" regurgitation. Why don't you and Skunkypoo spare us the sanctimonius rhetoric.

When does the "everyone else does it" defense start to work?
This is not 1st grade.
As soon the results of an investigation at State are front page news, let me know.
RE: Report finds academic fraud at UNC
Every school has "easy classes", most are called electives. The difference in an "easy" class and what has been brought to light at unc is A LOT different. Classes with no faculty supervising the course or grading the work yet students received grades, 43 courses where there was limited or NO instructional contact with students(being taught by the dept. head!!), grade rolls were submitted to the office of the registrar with faculty signatures that appear to be forged;the faculty members whose names appear on the grade rolls stated they did not teach the course.
That's a little bit different than picking up an easy class for your humanities elective.

Justify what you feel are shortcomings all you want. My point is NCSU has quite a bit of dirt swept under it's rug also. Wanna talk about some of it? Why don't you try explaining why TOBy is recruiting African American players that can't/won't graduate (according to Skunk). Skunkypoo says they can't "cut it". Another gut busting point is you guys are defending a poor graduation rate amongst the disadvantaged instead of talking about making improvements to raise graduation rates. How the heck are they getting in to NCSU to start with? What happened to that great screening of applicants you guys crow about? Remember, you Wolfies started this stone fight with all the hypocratic hyperbole.

"Justify what you feel are short comings all you want"
What the heck are you talking about?
- Posted by packfan1979
What you call "easy classes" at NCSU, otherwise known as "electives" must be fine at NCSU, but then you condemn the same at UNC. So you are attempting to justify why UNCs "easy" classes are so "different". But it's ok to have classes at NCSU that all you have to do is "show up for the tests". That was a direct quote from the Wolf Web. Then your leashmate Skunkypoo talks about "I don't want to tarnish the value of my diploma"? Yeah, that bowling class will polish that degree right up. Again, the hypocrisy is so thick from you Wolfies I need to fire up my Stihl Farm Boss to cut my way through it.

All schools have "easy electives", I'm condeming classes with no professors, grades being handed out for no work, etc.. You sound like you don't know what electives are vs. what was found at unc.
Big difference, pay attention
RE: Report finds academic fraud at UNC
"So NCSU was PAYING the wife of a governor mad money to be a glorified booking agent. $850K contract over 5 years. All the while having trouble making the budget work at NCSU? Cost the Chancellor, Provost, and BOT chair their jobs. I think that beats out a Head Coach and Athletic Director who resigned on his own. The fraud and political payoff was in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. And Wolfies talk about the fraud when a player takes $5K in jewelry being so severe. Again, the hypocrisy cesspool that some of these Wolfies live in is like a pig in mud, they really do enjoy it. "
This isn't about NCSU, deflection...UNC needs to clean up this mess so it's over. An independent investigation would be the only way to restore credit to one of the best schools in the state.

This was done as a self investigation and reporting. It appears that the University is doing just that, cleaning up it problems. Of course we know that it only happens at UNC. Right?
- Posted by REDRAGE
It did happen at NCSU, it was cleaned up too. I admire UNC's school as a whole, I work with many fine MD's that went there who also want this behind them. Personally I feel the only way to restore confidence at UNC is an independent investigation. Why fight it if there's nothing to hide, invite it!
RE: Report finds academic fraud at UNC
The Old Carolina Way - We do everything the right way. We don't need to cheat.
The New Carolina Way - Everyone has easy majors for athletes. Everyone does it.
The Real Carolina Way - We have to cheat even in the easiest majors on campus just to keep our players eligible. We have players, tutors, coaches, professors, department heads....heck, even secretaries involved.

This is a UNC problem. I don't think they'll want anyone from NC State solving it for them. The NCAA investigation is over. Since Carolina is taking the lead is cleaning up those kind of classes, I would be more infavor of the same process be enacted at all the schools in the system, including yours. Just to make sure the same standard is being followed by all schools.

Another ABC'er struggles to come up with his own definition of "The Carolina Way".
ROFL!
Sorry. Your guesses are
INVALID, since you didn't attend

Again, WHO started this thread, a Wolfie. About what? One rogue department head who let his house get out of order. Note this was an internal investigation and they posted it for you lads to read and roll around in. Read that article carefully, because it also talks about what they did not find. Julius is on the way out, and they are cleaning it up. Good ridance. So what happened at NCSU? A rogue Chancellor who thought he could buy political favor by hiring the governors wife. Something was rotten in Chapel Hill, and UNC got to the bottom of it. In Raleigh it took an external investigation to find the corruption. UNC volunteers to open itself up by exposing the truth, NCSU did all it could to hide it until a special prosecuter and the SBI got after them. Just pointing out how hypocritical some of the Wolfies are.
RE: Report finds academic fraud at UNC
Here ya go Godfather:
http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/09/24/699742/tutor-too-close-to-athletes.html"His family used several of the tutors, and the woman in question worked for him From December 2008 to May 2010."
"Meanwhile, she worked as a mentor/tutor for the school until July 2009"Now, I know you aren't the brightest crayon in the box, but you do realize that May 2010 is almost a year AFTER July 2009, don't you???

You really need to read what you wrote. She was "fired" (your words)? Really? Link? Again, the article, which I read before posting, talks about her working as a "tutor", but nothing about being "fired". Again, exposed as a Howling Hypocrite again. Keep working at it Skunkypoo.
RE: Report finds academic fraud at UNC
One of my friends here is really good friends with a football player who used to start at NC State. They went to HS together and played football together. Anyways, the State player told him that there was a course at State that he never went to, and that he and his friend (another starter) were given A's simply for showing up on the last day of class and giving the prof signed memorabilia.
If you think NC State is clean, you're wrong. Happens all the time.

Hey Mr. Thrill, how about this most recent fraud at NCSU...

Oh you mean the corruption in the previous leadership of the university, led by an administration put in place by the UNC Board of Governors. All to benefit former governor Mike Sleezely, the most corrupt governor in NC history. Now he is an alumnus of which university? Oh, that's right. The University of North Carolina. So, these political bigwigs used NC State to benefit a UNC graduate. Got it.
- Posted by pskunk119
Whaaaa!!! Now I'm really bustin a gut laughing. You Wolfies are side splitting fun. Now you are blaming UNC for the Chancellor's wrong doing? So how in the world did the entire BOT get duped by UNC. Is your leadership that dumb? Will you guys ever own up to being sleazy as well? Nope, just blame it on someone else. Priceless.
