I don't see how any current UNC student (to wit: thrill) can defend the cheapening of his or her degree by such shenanigans.

Oh, believe me, if I had majored in African-American studies, I'd be livid right now.
Thankfully I chose a different program!

They can't. That's what makes it so funny to see them scrambling to try to defend it, deny it and/or deflect to another topic.
The bottom line is the myth of the Carolina Way has been thoroughly debunked and proven to be non-existent.
The myth that Carolina is a "public Ivy" has been debunked.
And people like thrill here are in complete and utter denial over it.

And by none other than the Kerliner fan himself. He just proved it himself. He's just too stoooooopid to realize it.
RE: Report finds academic fraud at UNC
True. We're a public ivy that, unlike Harvard, actually fields nationally competitive sports programs.

Harvard has the largest athletic department in all of Division 1. UNC has one of the more corrupt in the country.

Largest does not equate to most successful. Ivies like Harvard have different missions. They don't recruit the same type of student athletes that most other D-1 schools recruit. I applaud Harvard and all other Ivy League schools for maintaining those standards, but in the world of big-time college sports, you'll have to make sacrifices somewhere if you want to be competitive.

And WE ALL know how UNC is 'sacrificing.' Which, again, I will say UNC is NO Harvard. You just said it yourself. But you are too dense to understand that.

Sure. UNC, Duke, Stanford, UCLA...all sacrifice the same thing.
RE: Report finds academic fraud at UNC
I read the first 7 pages on this one. The AA Studies department obviously was a dismal/fraudulant program, and UNC should have known something was totally amiss. No one even spotted this mess. Anything. Or any one person to even spot this lame Couse of Study. (For graduates) that know this.
One writer stated that the article only referenced FOOTBALL players. Ha. What a joke to write this. Only football players... Give all of us a break that have some comprehension skills.
This is not over yet for UNC. Could be some will be fired further, and the BOG could look inside the leadership once again.

Sadly, it will take an independent investigation. And the good ole boy network is alive and kicking in the state, so that will NEVER happen.
At least what they ARE releasing is bad enough to give them a severe black eye. That's a start and well deserved.
RE: Report finds academic fraud at UNC
The AA Studies and Communications department obviously was a dismal/fraudulant program,
That's your first problem right there. Communications and AFAM are separate programs entirely, and communications wasn't mentioned anywhere in the report.

So, are you saying UNC is just like Harvard, or not like Harvard?

What was your major at Wake Tech again?

Sorry, I actually had the grades to get into UNC, unlike 95% of your school.

Keep dreaming. LOL. NC State is and always will be a safety school for people that aren't good enough to get into the flagship. And there isn't a thing that you can do about it.
Carolina: Top 5 public. NC State: Lowest rated school in the ACC. Now I understand why your reading comprehension is so terrible, TBK.

You definitely made a solid point in this one. UNC is above NC State in academics. Still. The mess of the AA Studies isn't much to write home about. It makes the University look extremely bad. I have written it above. This is not a small bleep for the school. Those in leadership positions should be raked over the coals for this one. I hope that some will be fired. Academic fraud is STRONG.
