AA studies departments need to be investigated nationwide!

RE: AA studies departments need to be investigated nationwide!

^^^^^LOL @ comparing the likes of marv austin and reginald bullock to a MEDICAL DOCTOR!!!

RICH!

LMBAO!!

RE: AA studies departments need to be investigated nationwide!

Why stop there...why not just ban "Them Blacks" from attending school at all?

(Judging by the majority of their posts I don't think most of the ABC crowd around here would find any problem with that.)

NC State and Duke both have a majority of black athletes. I don't think "the majority" of either fanbase would want "them blacks" banned, are you kidding me?! You are the race baiter, sir. The African and Afro American Studies academic scandal has absolutely NOTHING to do with race. If it was English Literature department, it would have received the same reaction. Academic fraud is academic fraud, no matter what department it takes place in, or what race the perpetrators are.

What an ignorant comment that was.

RE: AA studies departments need to be investigated nationwide!

I am sure that these are popular with State athletes:

AFS 230- Introduction to African-American Music

AFS 260- History of Jazz

AFS 305- Racial and Ethnic Relations

AFS 346- Black Popular Culture

AFS 375- African American Cinema

What in God's name are these classes going to do to help ANYONE succeed in life? You may as well teach a course on how teenagers texting while driving affects their relationship with their parents after they leave the nest. SMH.

RE: AA studies departments need to be investigated nationwide!

So far, all we know is that anyone with African American Studies courses on their UNC transcript is potentially involved in academic fraud.

So following your "logic", anyone who walks into dook hospital with a white coat and stethoscope around their neck is potentially defrauding dying cancer patients out of tens of thousands of dollars, pushing a fake "cure" for cancer.

Fair enough!

Are any of those doctors still employed at Duke?

and i bet every one of those classes is harder than any class you ever took after high school (if you ever graduated high school, that is).

I have two degrees. How many do you have? I am assuming by your idiotic response that the number is zero.
These are show up and pass classes, every college has them.
I promise you that if an audit is done that there will be a disproportionate number of State athletes in them.

i have a bachelors in computer science engineering and a masters in computer science engineering. not that it means anything though. if you were able to find places easy enough to give you two degrees, that's living proof that having two degrees means absolutely nothing.

you could have majored in african american studies at unc for all we know. any imbecile can get a degree in that program, even a unc basketball player.

So you have the knowledge to overload this website with spam? And, that's what you did not too long ago, right?

But only a UNC Basketball Player can win "Academic All-American of the Year" Award for 2012.

Facts: they are just so much fun!

FAIL! Shane Battier won academic all american of the year in 2001.

Since 2000, Duke Basketball has had 6 academic all-americans. The rest of the ACC (UNC included) has 3..... COMBINED!

So... what was that about UNC Basketball and academics again?

.

They might not be Chemistry 101 or English 303 but you take about 30-40 classes during 4 years in college. There is some value to taking a variety of electives across different areas of study. However that value goes out the window if you're just handed an A without showing up to lectures or doing and handing in tests and/or assignments.

Not in 2012, he wasn't. Which is the year I commented on. My post remains for all to see.

(Reading comprehension isn't SubZero's strong point though, as we all know. Hating the Flagship is.)

Seriously, unless I plan to become a jazz musician as a career, how is taking a course on the history of jazz going to help me make a living in America???

I thought school, at every level, was suppose to teach you how to make a living to prosper and survive, WITHOUT depending on the government or anyone else.
