I dated and married a woman from another university. I have no connections to her school and she has none to State. A very weak connection is trying to be made, not one that would influence the decision one way or the other.

I think the main point that is being made is that there is NO connection to UNC. That was the concern.

Ann Goodnight began dating Jim while he was an undergrad at State, so her connections with State are longstanding.

BTW Ida Friday was also a Meredith student. She met Bill Friday while he was a student at State. Another smart woman.

No. The point is that it needs to be impartial. If it's UNC folks investigating, then everyone else looks at it as nepotistic. If it's other ACC folks investigating, UNC fans will say it's a witch hunt.

good grief. You were the one that started this entire issue, remember? You said..

We have four members who, between them, have a combined one degree from UNC...a law degree.

The ACC is NOT doing the investigation, it is the UNC Board of Governors. I'm fine with whoever they pick. I trust that, whoever they pick, is above the fray enough to do what is best, not to get caught up in some silly rivalry "gotcha" game.

The issue I addressed was my belief that a very partisan BoG, located in Chapel Hill, who had previously taken a very laissez-faire approach towards the academic scandal, would not be an effective body in the investigation or punishment of UNC. How thick do you have to be not to get this? It blows my mind. At least create the illusion of objectivity.

You're right about that! All I'm saying is convicted felons aren't allowed on juries for a reason.
