Congrats Tyler Zeller

Congrats Tyler Zeller

Tyler Zeller, a 2012 University of North Carolina graduate and recent first-round NBA Draft pick, was named this week to the 2011-12 National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court, the NABC has announced.

To qualify for the Honors Court, a player must be academically a junior or senior with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2011-12 academic year.

Zeller was the 2011-12 national Academic All-America of the Year for men's basketball and earned first-team Academic All-America honors in each of his final two seasons as a Tar Heel. He also won the Atlantic Coast Conference's Skip Prosser Award in both 2011 and 2012, recognizing him as the conference's top basketball scholar-athlete in each of the last two seasons.

He also was a first-team All-America on the court as well, earning the honor from the John Wooden Team in 2012, as well as second-team honors from the Associated Press, the NABC, the USBWA and The Sporting News. He was the 2012 ACC Player of the Year and a first-team All-ACC choice. His number 44 jersey will be honored in the rafters of the Dean Smith Center as a result of his achievements on the court.

Zeller was the 17th overall pick of the first round by the Dallas Mavericks in last month's NBA Draft before being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers on draft night. He earned his diploma in business administration in May from UNC.

RE: Congrats Tyler Zeller

Zeller always seemed like a stand-up guy. Congratulations to him.

RE: Congrats Tyler Zeller

Tyler has proven that he is a class person, and a role model that we don't see enough of in today's college program's. He showed only positives on and off the court by the way he conducted himself. His intelligence will take him forward to whatever he desires after basketball. One of the good guys in all of college basketball.

You must only be looking at UNC.

They exist on other campuses - like Duke, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, etc.

That statement didn't say that they didn't exist at other schools. It only said that there weren't enough of them and I agree.

Forgive him, he is inflicted with the dookie reading comprehension deficit disorder. It is thought to be brought on by drinking contaminated water from the rivers of New Jersey.

So who is Dook's academic and on court All American this past season?

RE: Congrats Tyler Zeller

It is a common ailment with dookies, and unforutnately, is incurable.

If they check in to the dook cancer center, I'm sure they can come up with a "cure" (*wink wink*) if they have enough cash.

RE: Congrats Tyler Zeller

Congratulations to Tyler Zeller!
