NCAA question

RE: NCAA question

I don't believe UNC was on probation when the Bell was last captured. Even with the vacated wins, as so many will say, it doesn't negate the victory on the field.

Actually, that is precisely what vacating wins does to them. Those victories are negated. They don't become Duke wins or anything. But they are no longer Carolina wins.

My reference was to possession of the bell. Vacated wins does not change the fact that Carolina won the bell on the field. The win will not show up in the rocord books, but until Duke wins the football game, possession of the bell remains with UNC.

According to Mr.Hokie, gobble, gobble, you and the other Wolfpuzzies don't have any right to comment because you can not win or lose the bell. Not me now, I believe everyone has the right to comment on anything on these boards.

RE: NCAA question

Reading and comprehending are two different things. Misinterpreting what someone else says does not make the interpreter correct.

Ask any nationally-recognized reading expert and they will tell you: READING=COMPREHENSION!

RE: NCAA question

Maybe in 25-35 years we'll finally stop getting links about the ongoing UNC scandal/investigation/coverup.

Maybe in 25-35 years will learn to respect the US armed forces instead of equating them with welfare recepients.

I read very well.

"You could have volunteered for military service. I did.

I'll keep that in mind if I'm ever on welfare. - 903"

Wait... Stop.... who made the smart*** comment about the welfare and joining the military. I read this on another thread. Who's the ****head that wrote that?
BTW: I don't like your take on unc-but thank you for your service!

Actually that is not true. People can be taught to read phonetically and still not comprehend what the words mean. You might want to check with some elementary teachers.

Reading is the process of constructing meaning through the dynamic interaction among: (1) the reader's existing knowledge; (2) the information suggested by the text being read; and (3) the context of the reading situation (Wixson, Peters, Weber, & Roeber, 1987, citing the new definition of reading for Michigan).

Thus prior knowledge is necessary for comprehension of what is read. I can read some very technical material, know every word in the text, but not comprehend the conclusion drawn by the writer.

RE: NCAA question

Most, if not all, elementary teachers include comprehension skills in any assessment of reading. A child who does not understand what he or she reads when the vocabulary is at grade level, is not considered to be an adequate reader, and that is being generous.

The comment was made by 903 Rogue G I Joe, formally known ar 903 Rouge Duke Fan. He changed his screen name and now uses a US army insignia, further insulting memebers of the armed forces.

True, but reading and comprehension are not one in the same. They are interdependent skills for success.
