Cool. I'd be interested to see what the minimums were at other schools during that time. Lazy journalism by the N7O not to include that, or just proof that UNC's standards were routine at the time and thus damaging to the N&O's mission here?

"Other schools" aren't currently under investigation for what could be the ugliest scandal in the HISTORY of the NCAA. Nor are any of the "other schools" dumb enough to post the transcript of an athlete on their website. Apparently they left that to the folks at UNC.

And out of curiosity, what exactly is the N&O's mission here?

Let's be honest, SO WHAT? The rebuttal should be do we want the caliber of athlete at UNC like Julius Peppers or not. He's a homegrown product who turned into an elite NFL defensive player. We constantly wring our hands over the fact that NC's elite football players go off to Alabama, Georgia, Florida and other football factories. You can't have it both ways. You can't keep the top football talent in-state and expect them to be Einstein's in the classroom. Not going to happen, so again, SO WHAT? Low hurdles in academics for elite athletes are just one requirement to being successful in big time college football.

You realize that the same author who wrote that also stated that the NCAA wouldn't touch Penn State, and that the only two schools in the country that offer AFAM majors are UNC and KU, right?
