Finish Realighnment

Finish Realighnment

The ACC should target Penn State as the 16th member and then convince Notre Dame to compete for the ACC Championship in football. Break up into four divisions that would preserve and value rivalries. An additional two or three games would be played within the conference and count in the standings. This would leave five games for teams to play outside the conference. At the end of the year have a playoff between the four divisions winners. Divisions would be as follows:

UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest
Notre Dame, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Penn State
Florida State, Miami, Georgia Tech, Clemson
Virginia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, Boston College

I am 100% against this. I do not want Notre Dame playing football full time in the ACC. I already dislike that they cancelled a big chunk of games against Michigan due to their 5 required games.

I much prefer watching them play their traditional rivals. It makes for much better football than them blowing out ACC competition week in and out.

This type of realignment would have to be approved by the NCAA as it would require three post-season games to determine the league champion instead of the current one game.

RE: Finish Realighnment

Teams can schedule up to 12 games not counting the ACC championship game. Six conference games, five nonconference games, ACC semifinal for four teams, and then the Championship game. No problem in scheduling.

That would mean that the 12 teams not participating in the playoffs would only be able to play 11 games. I don't see that happening.

Can't see the teams in Group C liking their group when Group A looks so weak.

Group A:
UNC, Duke, NC State, Wake Forest

Group C:
Florida State, Miami, Georgia Tech, Clemson

RE: Finish Realighnment

There will never be 4 divisions, but there s/b a north and a south. Each team plays the 7 others in their division, rotate 2 from the other division, and leave room for 3 non-conference games.

Under no circumstances will we allow Penn State into the ACC. It's bad enough that we already have UNC embarrassing our conference with their trashiness on a near-daily basis; there is no reason to allow the second most shameful school in the nation into our conference too.
