lack of excitement

RE: lack of excitement

In case you hadn't noticed, it's football season. Basketball season hasn't started yet.
- Posted by heelman1973

In North Carolina, there are pretty much only two sports seasons: Basketball season, and "waiting season" where we tide ourselves over by watching less entertaining sports, like football and baseball. Football season is just a subsection of waiting season.

Maybe for you wusspeckers, but Carolina fans have something to cheer for year-round.

You are correct. Starting with football in August and ending with baseball in June. July is reserved for vacation.

RE: lack of excitement

Carolina isn't going to a bowl game. Attendance is down for their football games. Carolina fans ALWAYS turn to basketball season when football is in the tank.

And you think they haven't already turned to basketball???

Which is why Fedora may eventually land in Texas. It is what it is. Texans feel about their football the way Heel fans feel about hoops. I may be wrong but I don't think he'll be in Chapel Hill too long. Besides, he's from Texas & Texas eyes are likely watching & waiting. IMO

Texas is to Carolina coaches as Wisconsin is to ACC quarterbacks!

In sports, as in life, timing is everything. If Mack Brown sticks around for a few more years and Fedora proves he can win on a bigger stage than C-USA then he may well punch his ticket to Austin.

But something tells me this will be Mack Brown's last year. The man clearly doesn't look like he's having a lot of fun anymore. I think the only reason he's still coaching is that he hopes to go out on a higher note than last season when the Horns only finished ahead of 3 teams in the Big XII.

Fedora might be a good fit for Texas, but with their stature they can have their pick of more proven coaches. It might not be Fedora's time.

If Texas was to offer him, you don't think he'd take it now and run?

I know when schools want to fire a coach, they have to buy out his contract. But if he wants to leave, does he owe anything to Carolina? Seems like it would be cheap (or free) if he wanted to leave and go to Texas.

And August is known as letdown season for ABC fans, as all their conspiracies about UNC fall flat and nothing seems to happen.
