He was overrated and can't defend like most victims of Roys coaching.

Wonder if he regrets giving up 2 seasons of 39-40 mpg guaranteed for what's sure to be possibly only 2 seasons of DNPs.

Honestly though, Gentry is a smuck for DNP'ing him with Roy Williams in attendance all the way out west to see him and Barnes' NBA debuts.

Marshall was very smart to go when he did (given the timing and personal/family financial situation). Great college PG given the right surrounding talent, but not athletic enough to be a difference maker in the pros. The loose comparisons to JKidd are unfortunately bogus (Kidd a considerably better athlete).

True, but sometimes you're better off not getting drafted to avoid getting stuck in a situation where you won't get a chance to play at all. And if he truly doesn't have a future in the NBA, then at least he would have gotten 2 more chances at making a Final Four or getting a National Championship in addition to gaining more experience with Roy that could lead to a career in college basketball coaching.

After the wrist injury, Kendall's personal perspective became clearer. For his and his immediate family, the rewards (money) of walking away from UNC healthy & at the top of his NBA market value was/is a life-changing factor.

How do you know his personal situation. Heck you didnt realize until your kids were in college that you didnt save enough money.

Completely agree. Vastly overrated due to having 4 other NBA players in the starting lineup with him. He's a great passer, horrible shooter, mediocre play maker/ball handler. Extremely smart decision to bail on UNC while he did, otherwise he'd be an early 2nd rd pick.
