Lol, now that is rich. The 3rd and 4th quarter attendance numbers for UNC football over the last decade or so beg to differ. Most are fairweather fans, and dimwitted hillbillies to boot. Hopefully you keep them all, because we don't want them.

Why would I have to work at Walmart to see UNC's fans all over town wearing their $5 fan gear?

    kato begs to differ.

A bandwagon fan equates to a fair-weather fan.

The 'weather' in Chapel Hill has been a bit stormy the past couple of years, yet fans STILL support UNC aplenty.

The point is that you and the flock of ABC'er are pizzed because the Tar Heels remain the envy of their (forever) little brother as they are addressing some legitimate concerns and are coming out better and stronger and just as popular as ever for it.

And which aisle do you work that allows you to know all this? Or do you stock them all on 3rd shift?

If they were bandwagon fans, why would they care about the academic improprieties that have occurred at UNC? They never went to school there and them could care less. Further, just about every UNC "fan" on here has claimed that no one cares about this investigation other than State and Duke fans. So why would this have any affect on them jumping off of the bandwagon?

However, that point is moot. Look at when the poll was done.

    FEBRUARY 3-5 2012.

Guess what? That was BEFORE the departure of all your NBA STAAAAAS. And the fact that you're claiming State the have he most bandwagon fans is comical. Really. After all, according to UNC fans, we are the embarrassment of the ACC, right? We haven't done anything noteworthy in decades, right?

Seems like you're the one in denial, friend.

    Meantime...

Mountain Hawk gear has reached an all-time high in popularity.

UNC fans are even bigger fans since the scandal started. Now when they go to Walmart to stock up on their gear, they can buy twice as much since it's all on clearance.

    .
    Mehh...

Given the off-the-field problems that UNC football has faced in the past couple of years and the significant Heel basketball talent that went to the NBA this past spring, it would seem that so-called bandwagon fans would be hitching on to NCSU or dook or some other team in droves.

Get off the deflection and denial -- observation and logic says that, unlike their Triangle neighbors, the vast majority of UNC fans are true fans as they stick with the Heels thru thick and thin.

Someone emailed Darren Everson, the WSJ author, and as it turns out the poll wasn't about football. Interestingly enough, the poll was actually taken LAST February before the UNC/Duke basketball game and asked people which was their favorite college. Here's what he said..

"Hey, James - the NC data is attached. And yes, basketball surely has an impact on it. The poll just asked people which is their favorite NC college, not which is their favorite football team. And it was conducted during basketball season. Take care..."

Here's the poll that was used. Check out the dates (February 3-5, 2012).

https://www.dropbox.com/s/9hjcz9naklyfmwg/NorthCarolinaResults.pdfNot sure why it's a surprise UNC has more bandwagon fans than the other two schools. Get off your high horse, kid.

it's in the first post, mental midget.

check it out... click on the pretty blue ink in the original article, then click on the BIG PRETTY PICTURE of the United States.. then look at NC by voter... pay particular attention to the part about the 252 area code.

If this website would allow me to use crayons, I realize it would help folks like you (read- double digit IQ people) to follow along.

    perhaps you could ask.
