The NCAA, following a statement from UCLA, announced that Muhammad accepted travel and lodging during three unofficial visits to two NCAA member institutions. CBSSports.com has confirmed that the two schools were Duke and North Carolina. The NCAA also said there were "other pending issues."

Pretty sure the quesrionable issues around shabazz were related to his relationship with Adidas and his aau squad.

The NCAA has stated that Duke and Unc are not involved in his free stuff related to this.

It's a shame if he's ruled ineligible - he was a very sought after player. I don't care who he plays for, I hope he can clear things up.

The article I read stated that the unacceptable benefits were from a "friend" of the family (his HS assistant basketball coach's brother?) that included travel and lodging on his unofficial visits to UNC and Duke. That would not be anything unsavory on the part of either school.

The rub all along was that he was going to go to an Adidas school all along due to all the Adidas relationships that have been hanging around him since Junior High. Despite that, Duke made him reconsider his Adidas connections because he must really have had that much respect for Coach K. But as soon as he picked UCLA over Duke, I figured the rumors about his Adidas connections were true and this ineligibility really doesn't come as any surprise at this point.
