Unless Marquise can play defensive back, safety or defensive end, he's not going to help. Carolina put up 50 points and didn't win. I think that's one on the defense or lack of.

I hope the defensive coordinator is renting and not buying a home. Lack of talent not withstanding, there is a serious scheme problems at UNC. They need to recruit better athletes on D and they need new direction once it gets there, Heels move the ball ok but Garner High could score 40 against them.

Went to the Garner vs Wakefield game Friday night...hate to say that you aren't too far off regarding the Trojans and UNC's defense.

Renner does not look pretty doing it, but he continues to churn out strong numbers. Hard to see Marquise replacing him as a starter this year, but he will have all the opportunity to prove himself in the off-season.

Back to the D (or lack there of). The staff had an extra week to prepare for GTech and this is what we get??? Yes, it is a new scheme, but what we saw yesterday was terrible.

Completely agree. The defensive scheme seemed to be "stand back and hope they trip on their way to the endzone". Or did we think that they would drop 12 or more passes? Terrible/hard to watch game for me.

I think that this year, just as in the past few years, Carolina's defense has been vastly overrated because their players look so imposing in the locker room. Physically, they are impressive. They just don't seem to have the attack mentality that a good defense needs. They are passive and tentative.
