Barth "Done For the Year"

RE: Barth

there go your bowl chances :)

Now that was just cold:)

Smack talk aside, I feel worse for Barth than I do for Carolina. He was injured last year, and he's injured again this year; I hope that doesn't hurt his NFL draft chances.

i wonder avg number of kickers per year get drafted?

i know most just try out after draft.

Probably more than duke players get drafted. Barth's brother is the kicker at Tampa Bay.

RE: Barth

What good is 3 points when the opponent is scoring 68?

23 FGs from the hall of famer Barf would win

or a miss by Ross Martin.

Wishing him the best. Get well and kick on Sundays.

I'd love to see him in a Panther's uniform, but I have no idea what direction they're going in.

Good question; I have no idea. The Panthers cheaped out last year and wanted a FG kicker that can also punt, and that didn't turn out very well. THey never should have let Kasay go.

I agree. The Panthers don't even know what they will be doing after the season at this point IMO. I do think that Rivera will be out.

I believe four kickers were drafted last year - none higher than the 6th round. If you're going to go that low, you may be better off as a free agent.

If memory serves me correctly, Sebastian Janikowski was picked in the 1st round out of Florida State. Ray Guy was picked around #5 or 6 overall as a punter from Southern Miss, I believe. The first one ever picked was I think one of the Gogolak brothers. Before that era, kickers were also position players, not specialists. Lou Groza, Pat Summerall and George Blanda were the ones I remember the best.

Thanks, Ken. I remember Pat Summerall. It's interesting that kickers were once position players, and now for the most part, they play a very specialized role on teams.

True, Hokie, the Panthers organization has a lot to figure out at the end of the season, from who will be the GM and HC, and what to do about the many needs of the team.
