Superior academics, sure. Athletics...not so much. Duke's best program is basketball and they are second-rate to UNC in that.

Simply being superior to the wusspack athletically does not make dook the leader.

Well this is talking about academics, not athletics. Football and Basketball players are exceptions (with a few exceptions to that) to the standards each of these schools requires. Basically a HS student has to be in the top 5% of their class to even get considered. So in a world of nerds (no offense intended)each school has this little island of kids that, had they not been super jocks at their high school would have been in the military, community college, working construction or at a university with admissions standards that admit regular (non-nerd) students. Lets keep this all in perspective. :)

Yup. The ABC crowd has been clamoring for UNC's ranking to drop because of the athletic scandal...what they don't understand is that academic rankings basically ignore athete exceptions because they represent such a small portion of the student body.
