I think we will come to find one day that the reason things have been so secretive in Chapel Hill - and the real reason that nobody wants to talk - is that they are protecting the 2005 & 2009 banners that hang in the Nose Dome. When it comes out that members of those two teams were kept eligible with no-show classes, rogue tutors that did their work, and plagerized papers that nobody seems to care about - then maybe the banners will come down and be available for the next bon-fire. That is what they are protecting - what else could it be?

Good. Not worried about any NCAA violations with regard to Tami Hansbrough.

Maybe more than one criminal probe.

Thank you sir for this one NCSU79.

Great information to set the record straight about Goolsby. I admire and respect his credentials. I respected him for his statement today too. No one can knock him for his top page article on WRAL if they can see the total picture. I wrote a total positive for him, and I stated that it was long over-due. Not many have the courage anymore to say things to the powerful people.

UNC hid the truth for years. Goolsby attacked the UNC Administration, and it's highly justified.

Props to a fellow UNC Law School grad for calling out the Board of Trustees for allowing the scam to continue.

"Thomas Cowart Goolsby (born September 11, 1961) is a Republican North Carolina State Senator representing New Hanover County.

A top graduate of The Citadel and Regimental Commander of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, Goolsby served as a Marine Corps officer after college. Governor Jim Martin appointed him Counsel to the State Crime Commission before he opened his legal practice, the Goolsby Law Firm, in Wilmington. He is a former chairman of the New Hanover County Republican Party and an adjunct professor of law at Campbell University.

Goolsby earned an M.B.A. from Golden Gate University and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the president of Empowered Investor Inc. and lives in Wilmington...." (wikipedia)

I give Tarheels Victory some stong kudos in this one. No many over the past years have been this forth-coming as a UNC graduate on here. "I love my alma mater, and I just want everyone to come clean." Quote. "UNC is in need of rebuilding."

Dr. Feelgood stated some interesting things, and I like how he writes most times. Das Thorpedo stated well too. I do appreciate what Goolsby stated. I wrote a positive for him on the front page of this news release on WRAL.

Someone needed to stand up a few years previous to this one. For any University to have a class with no attendance, giving grades out like M&M's...it's a total atrocity. I'm sure many other schools are in the same vein too. The leadership at UNC didn't want to attack this problem after many years of looking the other way.

Uh...did you read it? So he went on a hate rant full of poor sentence structure and reeking of intoxication. It's just like many of your overblown claims, easy pickings because it's generally 99.9% BS. No need to dispute displays of sheer stoopidity.

Yeah, cuz that's sure what we do:

Spend our time "disputing" hogan80. That's time well-spent right there.

it (the pastel pansy) can't dispute what hogan80 writes, so it deflects as best it can.

Other than in Paris, I don't believe I've ever seen a man-purse anywhere but on Franklin Street. Well, maybe in Carrboro too.

    more embarrassment.

for a school in NO need of further help embarrassing itself.

    how embarrassing.

How will the investigators even get IN to the town without armored cars and a military escort?

From what I read on here, Chapel Hill now resembles something like
the post-apocalyptic, lawless, crime ridden city depicted in Escape from New York starring Curt Russell (1981).

LOL..or is that just what these ABCers (who think the Old Well is on Franklin Street lol) -- who've never been there -- imagine the town is like in their endless, paranoid delusions?

I can just see them clutching their man-purses tightly as they wander around during the state college away games, or when they visit A Sudden Season with their mothers in tow...roflmao! "Let's Get Outta Here Mommy, I'm Scared!" lolol

    revile the corruption?
revile - Criticize in an abusive or angrily insulting manner. Isn't that what the N&O is doing?

They can't even prove any new NCAA violations and now they want a criminal probe? Yeah, right.

Walter, when you post I'm reminded there are those in the IQ of the Blogosphere that are on the extreme far left in that area between 0 and .1 of the bell curve.

bullshot............. .Why does the n and O have to get court orders to revile the corruption. It Has been going on for 20 years and the UNC trusties knew about it. That is called aiding and abetting. It happens to be a felony. They are covering their own azz'z. Now the local police is also involved they knew and reused to investigate.

Petty stuff. Goolsby is not even concerned about that. He's pizzed, and lost his cool in an article. I can appreciate his pasion for wanting to get to the truth. But misuse of public funds happens everywhere, everyday. With limited resources, I'd say a hearing before the house/senate of NC would be more appropriate before an investigation. Let Martin finish his work and then "release the hounds" if necessary after that. Sometimes, you can find out quite a bit more truth in stealth/quiet that with a big public display like you put on every Saturday night on Hay Street.

Go back and read the entire article. If someone embezzled money them I'm for arresting that person. Anyone commits a crime, I'm for arresting them.

I think that if there were criminal activity then it would have already been done. According to sources the SBI is investigating, and Gov. Martin is there. This guy worked for Gov. Martin. Is he calling Governor Martin a liar as well? The University is going through the proper method of correcting the problems at UNC. The Senator has plenty of work trying to solve the problems of the State. Fixing I-95, balancing the budget, voter fraud, etc. are more important issues than a criminal investigation at UNC. I know as UNC Law School Grad, the is tired of reading all the krap from Dan Kane. He!! I am too, but to go off half ed is uncessary.
For the group wanting to destroy UNC, your biggest revenue games are against UNC. If you're not playing UNC, they you're not filling the seats and only hurting your ownself. Since UNC is not going to a bowl game this year, and can't earn any money for your school, thank you for going to a bowl and sharing the revenue with us.
Maybe this will be the final straw to let Carolina know they need to get the He!! out of the ACC and as far away from the REDRAGE as possible. Let's see how well you do when we aren't around.

I think most people would call filing expense reports for personal expenses "fraud." They would probably also say embezzlement constitutes criminal activity.

  • Dr. Feelgood Nov 20, 2012

I do to. And they will. Be patient. If you are not happy afterward then say so but an in depth investigation is not going to happen in one week. Saw the Goolsby article. Pretty irresonsible. Here's the issue "criminal activity" would mean a federal or GS has been violated. The attorney general needs to be going after fraud, drug dealers, theft, etc. Just not sure a "criminal probe" is necessary in an "academic" situation. The only thing that could be considered "criminal" would be misappropriation of public funds or perjury to an investigation. Now if that is what he is trying to do, "compel" the truth using the specter of perjury/jailtime, then he may have a point. Witch hunts though will do nothing to get to the bottom of what has happened at UNC.

If it will get to the core of this issue, then it is justified. There are far too many rumors floating around. It is time for the WHOLE truth to come out, no matter what the ramifications may be. As I said on the WRAL story, I love my Alma Mater, but this has gone far beyond ridiculous. I just want EVERYONE to come clean. That is the only way to start to rebuild the reputation of this once highly esteemed University.
